To get a nice inliner that lasts a long time, I use waterproof eyeliner on the waterline. Further down I also explain the difference with black and white eyeliner!
Painting an inliner is not an art, it is quick, easy and easy to do so big difference!
Inliner & Kajal - What's the difference?
Inliner is painted along the waterline, ie the mucous membrane between the eye and the lash line (the lash line is exactly where the eyelashes grow).
While eyeliner is rather the name when painting along the lash line, which can be done both above and below the eye. You "paint an eyeliner". It is also a collective name for all types of such products - there are lots of different liquid eyeliners and pencils!
Kajal is a type of product you can paint as an inliner or eyeliner! So inliner is rather "where" you apply while eyeliner is a type of eyeliner and is "what you apply with".
Here is the waterline!
1. What is the best quay for the waterline?
One of my favorites among bright pencils is the classic IsaDora Inliner Kajal Waterline (adlink) in shade 56 Blonde!
I have also tattooed my waterline candle, so I actually never need to use a light eyeliner. Very luxurious! :)
When it comes to black eyeliner, or other dark eyeliner, durability is extra important! Because if such a dark eyeliner starts to smudge or disappear, the make-up does not look as nice all day, the difference will be greater than if a white eyeliner disappears a little.
Here I really want to recommend Sensai Lasting Pencil Eyeliner (adlink)! I have the black shade but it is also available in brown, which is very nice along the waterline as well - because you get a framed look at the same time as it does not become as "hard" as black.
2. Black or white eyeliner?
This is a common question :)
A light or white eyeliner gives a more open and lively look. Some use it to reduce redness in the eyes, some to get a more alert look. It is a discreet detail but incredibly effective! More effective than you might think, if not tested.
A dark or black eyeliner gives the eyes an intense look. What is it that Amanda Shulman says "treat yourself to a look" or something like that. I agree! :)
I usually avoid chalk-white eyeliner pencils if you are looking for the effect of just "brightening up" the eyes and removing redness. It is very nice with chalk white along the waterline for heavier eye makeup! But if the purpose is to just look more awake, it is more effective with a tone that is closer to your skin tone. In my case light beige or off-white. The yellow tones are also good for neutralizing redness.
Do you have to have a waterproof eyeliner to paint inliner?
When painting a light inliner, it does not necessarily have to be a waterproof eyeliner, but good with a creamy formula. Because it is a humid environment, it is more durable with a creamy eyeliner, because a dry eyeliner or powder absorbs the moisture and will then release.
If you paint a dark or black eyeliner, I really recommend a waterproof eyeliner!
It's not just about your inliner staying put all day, but also that it should not mess around. A waterproof eyeliner / eyeliner sits just as nicely all day, while a non-waterproof can smudge so that you get a dark spot in the corner of the eye or run out on the side of the eye.
The eyeliner from Sensai that I recommend sits like a rock!
4. How to remove waterproof eyeliner?
It is not difficult at all if you use a cleaner with oil :) I try to reduce my cotton consumption and prefer not to use such cleaners as you bathe on a cotton pad. But use an oil cleanser instead!
Löwengrip Skin Reboot Cleansing Oil (adlink) is SO good! It smells good of pineapple too, but in a mild way :) I want all my beauty products to smell like this! And I am quite sensitive to fragrance to be added, preferably mild or fragrance free.
I have tested a number of different cleansing oils and this is one of the most effective on waterproof eye makeup actually.
Massage into dry skin. All makeup on the whole face dissolves! Here I also have waterproof mascara, also from Sensai.
Rinse the skin and then repeat with the oil once more! First I wash off the makeup, then I wash the skin clean :)
5. Things to keep in mind when painting inliner:
I usually paint two coats for extra long durability! First paint a line, let it dry (I usually apply mascara in the meantime) and then I paint another layer. The durability will be noticeably better then!
For light or white eyeliner, there are no strange things, just paint!
When it comes to a dark or black eyeliner, a common myth is that it reduces the eyes. I do not really agree with that - provided that you paint the eyeliner a little on the lower lash line as well :)
Like this:
I painted the mascara before just so you can see the difference in the result more clearly BUT recommend painting the eyeliner first (both inliner along the waterline and as eyeliner along the lash line) and then the mascara :)
Paint black eyeliner on the waterline (inliner).
Then paint down on the lower lash line as well, blurring out a little. This eyeliner has a blur on the other end, but you can take a separate brush if your eyeliner does not have it.
Here you see the difference between only eyeliner on the waterline (inliner) and if you soot a little along the lash line as well. The eye opens up much more!
Finished with eyeliner along the upper lash line as well :) It's cool with only eyeliner under the eye, but it "pulls down" the look a bit. The majority of my customers want a more open and framed look and then there will be more balance to paint eyeliner over the eye as well.
