I am very happy with my hair care routine right now and currently only use products from Maria Nila, review is here!
After I took the photos for this post, I posted a selfie on Instagram and immediately got a dm with the question "what products do you have in your hair? How nice!”. Good timing because here is a solid review with both step by step and review :)
Maria Nila - Review
Maria Nila has vegan hair care products made in Sweden.
My hair type: I have straight hair and without styling it is unbelievable flat. I have very oily scalp, the lengths are bleached and currently quite worn so the tops feel dry and fresh.
I want more volume in the scalp and more well-groomed lengths. I am also very picky when it comes to hair care, worth adding before you read the reviews;) I am not impressed so easily!
Maria Nila Pure Volume - Review
Maria Nila Pure Volume Shampoo (adlink)
Because I have very oily hair, use dry shampoo every single day and wash my hair only once a week - well then you understand that I need an effective shampoo. But many shampoos do not lather at first use, I need to shampoo my hair three times and above all massage a lot on the scalp to make it feel clean. It can take a long time ..
But not with this one! I LOVE how effective this shampoo is! It foams already at the first use and I only need to wash twice with shampoo so it is clean. And do not work it so much into the hair either.
Extra happy that I have a big size package, 1 liter! Do you know how I feel when I see this shampoo bottle in the bathroom? I feel rich, haha! Like when the fridge is filled with good stuff;)
Very nice scent too, sweet but fresh I would call it. Pretty mild, but it also depends on what you compare with of course.
Maria Nila Pure Volume Conditioner (adlink)
The conditioner is also great. What I react positively to with both the shampoo and the conditioner is that these are very expensive products. I like when a conditioner just "slides" in the hair and you do not have to fill up the entire palm with product as well. This is balm! Very smooth, slides in the hair easily and you need a very small amount.
I have Maria Nila Pure Volume Trio Big Size (adlink) which is a kit with both shampoo, conditioner (1 liter each) and a hair wrap in the same series. But it is possible to buy separately and in smaller bottles as well: Maria Nila Pure Volume Duo (adlink)
Maria Nila Pure Volume Masque (adlink)
As if I had preferred a pump bottle also on the hair wrap, instead of a jar, I like everything even with the hair wrap!
Would have liked to have seen it completely silicone-free as well, but you can not get everything;) I am not against silicones in makeup, but prefer silicone-free products in my hair routine. Read my post about silicones in hair care here.
Enough about that! The packaging is also very good, it is creamy and feels like "rich", which I like. My hair after Maria Nila's hair wrap and conditioner is wow-soft! I can not stop patting my own hair afterwards, haha.
I have, as I said Maria Nila Pure Volume Trio Big Size (adlink) which is a kit with both shampoo, conditioner (1 liter each) and this hair wrap (250 ml). But you can also buy separately: Maria Nila Pure Volume Masque (adlink)
Volume Series Summary:
I find it difficult to draw conclusions about whether shampoo, hair wrap and conditioner can give a volume-giving effect to the hair. For my hair needs so much more than that to not lie completely flat on my head.
But the two most important points for getting good volume are that 1: the shampoo is effective and 2: neither the hair wrap nor the conditioner weighs down the hair. And both of these boxes tick the Maria Nila Volume series.
Additional tips: I do not have the mousse in the picture in this post but I also use Maria Nila Pure Volume Mousse (adlink) after the shower and then blow dry. The mousse is also very good so you do not need much at all - a step that really makes a visible difference to the volume of the hair!
Maria Nila Cleansing Powder - Review
Maria Nila Cleansing Powder (adlink)
One of my biggest nerd areas in life: dry shampoo haha!
This dry shampoo is not a classic spray but more like a large spice jar. A spray contains liquid mixed with powder, after the liquid has evaporated only powder remains. In this product you skip the liquid completely, it is only the absorbent powder.
I like powder-dry shampoo for the reason that I use a lot of dry shampoo and thus find it difficult to spray down the entire bathroom. I have a very small bathroom which makes me stand and breathe in the fumes afterwards, it's not so nice. I can avoid that with this manual jar!
Maria Nila Cleansing Powder smells very fresh, is incredibly effective against oiliness (even for me with very oily hair) and gives a light feeling in the hair. Not very volume-giving or structure-giving, which is good because then I can "overconsume" and still pull my fingers through the hair without problems;)
What I usually do is use this to absorb all the fat. Then I use a more voluminous dry shampoo in spray form afterwards to get that extra volume and texture. And then I need very little product, because the hair is no longer oily.
Like a spice jar as I said, simple as that. The only thing that is just over is to have it in the handbag, because the cork is not tight against so when you open it, powder has come out above the holes. It does not bother me, but good to know if you toss around a lot, it is not a good carry-on bag.
You can pour a little in your hand and massage in. But I prefer to scoop straight down into the scalp and then massage it in properly.
I have a pretty dark scalp right now but do not think it makes my hair look dull even though I apply a lot. I have tested both potato flour and corn flour in case of acute dry shampoo shortage and then you look completely powdery in the head afterwards. But not with this one!
Maria Nila Dry Shampoo - Review
Maria Nila Dry Shampoo (adlink)
A good dry shampoo that gives more volume and structure than Maria Nila's Cleansing Powder. Good choice if you want to use dry shampoo as a styling product and not just to get rid of oily scalp :)
Some dry shampoos are very effective in their absorbency to get rid of oily hair and other dry shampoos are more like styling products that also contribute volume, texture and firmness. I would say this is a cross between the two!
It smells fresh (I am very sensitive to dry shampoo with a strong perfume scent, because I use so much). And for me with very oily hair (as I mentioned a thousand times now, hehe) a combination of Cleansing Powder and this Dry Shampoo is a winning concept that effectively removes the oil, gives nice volume while I do not go around and stink of perfume. Nice and fresh only, simply!
Spray and then massage in with your fingertips.
Maria Nila Structure Repair Leave In Cream - Review
Maria Nila Structure Repair Leave In Cream (adlink)
This is a new favorite product and definitely not the last bottle I will own!
First and foremost, the product description is made for my bleached and slightly worn hair ”strengthens and builds up damaged hair. The leave-in cream provides moisture, nourishment and repairs split ends while at the same time acting as heat protection.“Just what my lengths need!
Since I only wash my hair once a week and use very dry products on the scalp, I also need to liven up the lengths with moisturizing between washes. Otherwise, it looks pretty dry and foggy in the middle of the week.
In addition, I often braid my hair in the evening and wake up with nice curls in the morning (picture at the bottom of the post) and then this cream is perfect! The curls become SO nice in the morning and the hair feels well-groomed and smooth.
What makes me like this is precisely that it is so light at the same time as it feels "rich". Too many leave-in creams feel too heavy on my hair. The cream is very light, a mixture of cream and gel. But at the same time very expensive, you do not need much everything for the whole hair (and my hair is quite thick, I have thin hairs but they are many).
As well as the bonus detail that it is in a pump that can easily stand on the shelf or sink edge while using it. Instead of narrow packages and tubes, which you have to hold in to take out a click. I do not like to hold packages with sticky hands, hehe. If one is going to take a second click of a tube pack and already lubricated in half the hair as well.
Now I certainly hold it in my hand in the picture, but it was just to show the bottle in the camera, haha.
You can use it in damp hair after hair washing, but I use it mostly in dry hair between washes.
After these steps, you can massage up an incredible amount of volume! Lion warning!
So then it is perfect with the leave-in cream to get a little more well-groomed look in the lengths and then I put the hair a little more straightened in the scalp. Then it's ready!
Fresh and airy scalp and smooth lengths, perfect! ;)

The same evening as the above step-by-step pictures were taken, I made two baked-in braids, the next day my hair looked like this! That result is a lot thanks to the leave-in cream. With a heavier cream, the curls do not become so curly, because the hair becomes too heavy. And without leave-in cream, the curls will just be fresh.
Very happy girl! :)
