My business week v. 32

Now it's Sunday again! Do you know that I will soon be writing these Sunday posts about my work week for a whole year?

Fun to write about other things is make-up and products sometimes, I made more such private posts before in the good old days;)

New brow knives!
One of my projects this week was to take pictures of our new brow knives and post them in the webshop!

May sound simple but there are many steps:

  1. Photograph
  2. Edit the background of the images that will become product images and make a "front image" in the correct format
  3. Edit other images that should be included in blog posts etc.
  4. Adding a product to the webshop is time consuming, many steps before you get all variants of shades, the right settings with price, stock balance, category, tips on products you can supplement with etc.
  5. Make a blog post about the brow knives with text and pictures
  6. Make a "beauty guide" about the brow knives in the webshop
  7. When the beauty guide is published, I can change the product again and post that post with image and link.

Then it's ready!

This is what it looks like when you remove the background in photoshop. It can go very fast with some products, if they "stand out" clearly from the background, the program feels pretty good itself but that was not the case with these pictures so it became quite fussy and time consuming.

If you want to see the results, you will find them in my web shop here! :)

Last step: Post the link on the product page where you can read more about the brow knives, fun!

Meeting with the new premises
Now we have had a meeting about the new premises we will move the salon to! It is still not signed yet though because the exact rental cost is determined depending on what changes we need to make, but we have said we want it and we are now going ahead with the details :)

One of the things is that we have to draw water to the treatment rooms because the environmental inspectorate has clear rules about sinks when doing permanent makeup. And if our barber is to be able to have shampooing, we also need water for it, of course.

Then we want to build 2 or 3 walls also to cut off some large rooms into several small ones.

To know what everything costs, we need to decide exactly how we want it - and then we must first decide exactly who should have which room and how we should furnish everything. Incredibly difficult when you do not see everything in front of you, we have only been in there once :)

This is how I have sat and brainstormed how to structure everything as practically as possible. It may not even be like this but you have to start somewhere!

For example. was the first thought of having the waiting room just outside the toilet because it felt like a natural corner for it. But there is a small kitchen so we realized that it is smarter to build a wall and make staff rooms there instead so you can easily wash your dishes. And if we think right, there will be room for a shop, reception, waiting room, make-up places and barbarians' corner in the large open area anyway.

Lots to include in the calculations :)

This is how I sit and draw water pipes :)

To be continued!

How often can you be sick?
You should listen to your body and rest when you are sick. But I can hardly be home from work every month! I have now gone on fever and sore throat for the 3rd time in 7 (!) Weeks. And I have had a fever every month since March, so 6 months in a row. Incredibly frustrating.

I'm not used to the medical center taking one seriously, but now they have actually taken this very seriously and I will go to the doctor's again next week, even though I said I do. only if they really think I should, because I prefer not to haha. But it's mainly because I have a fever so often + start to get a little fuss about the lungs / breathing. Anyone know if sore throat can spread to the lungs? I dare not google haha.

Anyway, I have therefore been home two days this week and just put on make-up and then worked in bed + taken power naps and so on. So I've been good at it! :) You get to see rest as an achievement and you get to feel good anyway haha.

This thing about not being home when you are sick is something I have had in me all my life, so it's not just about running a business. I went to school even though I was sick both in high school and in high school. I do not know where it comes from, is it some kind of work ethic? How many children go to school with a fever as well ... Maybe comes from a previous life :)

Sitting and putting on make-up and drinking juice feels like rest, right? :) It's a job but no effort for the body and for me it's more relaxing than watching a movie. After this make-up I took a bath and washed everything off immediately haha.

Thread the legs
Threading is not rocket science but it is required that you have a feeling for it, a steady hand and that you practice, practice, practice until you have mastered the technique. First you have to get the technique on your hands, then on different areas of the face (it can be a bit tricky in the temples and upper lip for example) and then you have to practice on different people because everyone has different types of hair and skin type. And practicing speed is also important, it is a treatment that can hurt the customers so you can not keep up and persevere.

Mia started practicing this this week and I was her practice person on both when she practiced the technique and then she threaded my legs while I sat and worked :) Then she went on and threaded my whole face at home in the evening too!

I sat in the teeth whitening chair and worked while Mia sat on her knees on the floor and threaded almost my entire left leg. It felt like I was sitting on a throne and she was my servant haha!

Gone out with the happy news to all customers!
I told you this week that Annika will be a mother! :)

This week we published it on the company's social media and have received so many nice comments, our customers are the best, so much care! ♥

The cool thing about this is also how extremely close I, Miska and Annika are. Are not all business partners really that lucky? :) Since Annika is single, we usually joke that Miska is the baby's father and I am the baby's folder haha. And last Thursday we were with her for an ultrasound! So nice, cool and totally sick at the same time to see the baby move in there! Wow! Now we know an estimated date too, January 10! :)

Now we have opened Annika's schedule until November 30, then we will see if she can work in December as well, but we have to wait and see how her body feels. Tattooing is very stressful for the back, for example.

Otherwise, it has been a normal work week with everything that goes with it!

Now during the weekend I have just rested so I am completely on my feet again next week :)

Hugs are! ♥

  1. We completely disagree about going to school / work even though you are ill. I get sick very easily and get so damn angry at everyone who thinks they are good who go to work even though they are sick. I get infected and always get really sick with a fever for two weeks. Had more people stayed at home, fewer would have become ill (even if you become infected before it breaks out as well). No, stay home! Then you get well faster too so it's win win. :)
