My photo routine

“Where do you edit your photos that you post on the blog? Do you have any tips on editing programs / apps that are both free and that you have to pay for that you can use to edit in? And finally, what setting on the camera do you use when shooting your face? Grateful for answers! Hug!"

I get asked my make-up pictures quite often now, and that makes me very happy because I'm really trying to develop in photography and the whole technology part. Before, it was not really as fun to blog because I always wanted to write "makeup is a thousand times nicer in reality" because I never made it look as good in the picture.

Now it feels so nice every time I get compliments for the pictures themselves, because you will never be 100% happy yourself. I think the full pictures are pretty nice, except that shading, highlighter and blush are barely visible, but the close-ups when I do step by step I would like to improve. Do not know how though, new camera?

Anyway, now I edit my images in Photoshop CS5 and use the basic settings found in "Mini Bridge" where you can briefly change light, colors, contrast. And what I do there is simply to try to make the make-up look more like in reality - it always gets a little greyish in the picture.

My camera is a system camera (Canon EOS 550D) and I use the standard lens that came with the camera when I take close-ups of the eyes, and 50mm lenses from Canon when I take full shots. The full pictures are taken with the remote shutter release and a small tripod.

The settings on my full images are OFF, ISO 800, Aperture 5.6 and Exposure 2, and I stand in daylight opposite a large window. You photo-savvy people may think my settings are quirky (I do not know) but I have come to them after taking test photos, test photos and test photos, and that's how I think it will be best :)

Then I sometimes also change the white balance, if it is "normal light" outside, I drive on auto, but when it is really gray outside, I set the kelvin number to 6000.

Photographed a mobile picture so that you can see my professional photo studio;) Although I photograph with the blinds pulled up of course!

I have walked Emelie Ohlssons web course in photography, which is aimed at beginners. So I'm definitely not good at taking pictures but I understand enough about the camera to be able to test myself and it's super nice, so happy with the course! Emelie explains that even I understand, who is both non-technical and thinks the basics of photography are boring. As soon as someone mentions ISO, I automatically stop listening haha.

Before the course, I honestly thought that the TV setting was for when you would take a good picture on a TV screen without it being like that "flicker stripes" you know? I have also tested this and it did not work haha. Why would there be a specific setting for just that as well? Completely illogical.

I'm also hungry for a new web course she's filming now, which focuses on portraits! Maybe it will also take late when it is ready :) Would be fun!

If you have more questions about this, just shout, we'll see if I can answer;)

    Hug!
