Night tampons

Since my biggest target group is girls, I think that a small tampon post can not hurt this beauty blog :) And this post is actually indirectly about beauty - everyone deserves a good night's beauty sleep!

This is because ob has launched Sweden's first night tampon, and when I started googling a bit about this and ended up on various forums, I realized that there are very many myths around this topic, myths that many still believe in today!

So we can not hold on to girls, so those myths I thought I would break through now :)

"Tampon at night is unhygienic" - There is nothing that says that it would be more unhygienic or bad in any way to sleep with a tampon, you change before you go to bed and immediately when you wake up there are no problems. Then it's a matter of taste what you think feels  more hygienic and not.

"The tampon leaks at night" - Many can do it, but o.b's new ones have "wings" that adapt to your movements when you sleep, and absorb any liquid that a regular tampon would have missed.

"You get TSS if you have a tampon for too long" - Not true either, TSS is a disease that was connected to tampons due to some cases of disease in the United States in the 80s. The reason was then a tampon of a special material that is not used in tampons today. You can still get the disease today due to a bacterium that produces toxins (poisons), but the most common reason is infected wounds. There are many and extensive studies that show that normal use of tampons does not affect the risk of TSS.

(All info I got from ob)

So you do not have to step up in the middle of the night to change the tampon either for hygienic or accident prevention reasons, or to avoid diseases!

This is what o.b's night tampon looks like, the different wings are there to adapt to your movements when you sleep, they absorb the liquid and transport it to the core of the tampon. The tampon feels just like a regular tampon.

Available in normal and super sizes.

So now all tampon lovers do not have to miss the beauty sleep one week a month! Woop woop! : D

    1. Will definitely test these, admittedly sleep with regular tampons and have always done. Never had any problems… think it feels more unhygienic with a bandage as I bleed a lot and it easily wants to leak. Sometimes I run with both a tampon and a bandage to be extra safe. I am careful to change just before I go to bed and immediately when I wake up. Never had any problems at all.

    2. I'll try this! A little more comfortable when sleeping with someone. If you use a bandage at night, you can use half a roll of toilet paper or take a quick shower in the morning. Which is a bit hard :)

      • Agree with you! :) since I got a menstrual cup, I would never imagine ever using tampons again! Best invention ever!

      • You sleep an average of 6-9 hours per night and then you should not have to think about changing no, but then yes you sleep for a day so maybe the night tampon would need to be changed;)

    3. Or you get a menstrual cup, you save an awful lot of money and you avoid all the hassle that a tampon brings with it.

Also, I would like to know where you got your information about TSS from, To say that it is a myth, and only existed in the 80's is just a bad style as I have some acquaintances who came across this a while ago.

      • What protection you want is a matter of taste, there are many who are not happy with menstrual cups as well :)

I got information about TSS from ob, I do not write that it was only in the 80's I write that the connection to the tampon arose then, TSS is a bacterium that you can of course get even today but it is usually due to infected wounds. Sorry if I was unclear, will rewrite the text more carefully! Hug!
