My Business Week v. 13

I was thinking now that god what luck that I do not have the worst news that I will make official in this post today, because then you would have just thought it was a 1st April joke;)

Last week there was basically no rest at all and now I kicked off this week with a freelance job and an unusual amount of customer bookings on me, so last Friday when I woke up it was actually quite nice not to have to go to Uppsala :) But I have fun had!

Makeup job at Disruptive Materials
The company Disruptive Materials (which I work a lot with) is taking new pictures for their website, so I got there on Monday and put on make-up on a conveyor belt! There would be portrait photos, a group photo and also some "in action photos" when they are in the lab, for example. So a guy I did a manicure on too when he was going to hold on to some lab stuff :)

12 people in total was what I put on make-up I think, but I was done in 3 hours as there were a lot of "quick fix make-ups".

I did not have time to take pictures as it was full speed to be in phase with the photographer's planning schedule, but a quick picture of my presented dressing table I had time to take before we started :)

The same amount of time you spend on the assignment itself is in working hours both before and after when you, like me, do not freelance as often. I have like no finished "freelance bag" but pack products and plan brushes forever and write lists so as not to forget anything, and then when you are done, everything should be unpacked again and cleaned. And then there is some travel time and dragging in between as well. So it's a little more cumbersome than you might think!

Work from home one afternoon
Tuesday was a really good work day! I worked at the salon all morning and got a lot done, then after lunch my sister Mia came by the salon after a hairdresser visit because she wanted to take a new hair test with Hairology. So then I went home with her in the car and worked in the photo studio!

I did this make-up then, you dare to try new things when you are not going to work at the salon afterwards. Otherwise I always put on make-up in the morning :)

Hairology job!
Last week I was on training with hairology as you know, and now I am summarizing lots of info to 1. the website (questions and answers about Hairology) 2. a post in the blog and 3. to all Hairologists at the salon but new tips and tricks on how to think like I learned in training last week :)

I really think this with Hairology is sooo fun!

And since I also mentioned above that Mia came and did a hair test after the hairdresser's visit, I can not help but tell you about that result. Mia is an exemplary Hairology customer, by exemplary I mean that she not only buys the products but she uses them diligently as well and exactly according to the recommendations with packaging and everything. Since we live together, I can certify you that it is true;)

Now she has bleached her hair a lot and gone from dark brown to balayage blonde with very light lengths with two bleaches in three months. So she wanted to do a test to see if she needs any other products after this and I replied "it is good to do a test but because you are so good with the products, the quality should remain relatively good anyway".

Her world was almost completely optimal! Tiny a bit dry in the middle of the hair but we are not talking a whole step on the scale that is between 1-10 but 0.2 separated it from a completely optimal value.

So awesome! This enlightenment on two hairdresser visits and yet absolutely perfect quality! It pays to be careful with the hair care products :)

The afterimage is from the hair salon's instagram @thecreativezone and you can book an appointment with them creativezone.se, it was Elin who did Mia's hair. I asked Mia if they used Olaplex but she did not know, they had not said anything about it anyway.

Test person for a new apprentice!
Olga who has worked as a makeup artist with us for over a year has now taken the next step in development and will become an apprentice for permanent makeup woop woop!

When a new person is to be trained, it is more work to get started than you might think, she has lots of bookings, Annika has lots of bookings so just finding the times to get started is a little puzzle. Now we are done with that planning and Olga started by tattooing on a fake skin, then filled in a body tattoo on Miska's legs, then she tested a little highlighter under Annika's eyebrows and on Wednesday she also got to tattoo my lips!

I do not know how many times I have tattooed my lips now, you might think I am addicted haha! But I am often a test person so it does not always attach so well. It will be exciting to see the result after this time because Olga felt like a natural talent, another would have been a bit clumsy with how to hold the machine and stuff but she felt so extremely confident, steady on her hand and she quickly got the color nicely in the skin as well. I did not get completely bruised if you say so, and the healing has gone very smoothly, I must say :) Very impressed!

We only drove the upper lip because it is where it is needed most, and it's nice not to have such a large area that heals now over the weekend when you have to laugh, talk and eat a lot :)

"What's the worst that could happen?"
This week I listened to an interview with Hannah Widell in The Success Podcast, really good episode! Since I listened to her and Amanda a lot in the Friday podcast, I already knew that they have a very similar corporate mindset to me, and that feeling did not immediately weaken after this interview!

One thing that Miska and I talked a lot about after the podcast episode is the "daring, brave" thinking that entrepreneurs talk about. But I have never really felt myself that I was just brave because it is actually not a huge risk to start a business (as long as you do not mortgage the house or such of course). If you are afraid of failure in itself, it is of course a risk, but I, Annika and Miska often say "what is the worst that can happen?" and Hanna had a good answer to that in the podcast - if you go to the forest, you have to go back to start working again only! There are lots of employers who would love to have me as an employee! She has been in debt up to her ears and had SEK 1.50 in the account and she also survived.

The only really big risk with entrepreneurship is if you lose your health in all the stress, that you burn out. Which Hannah did not talk about but which should be added because it is a real risk. But every time I evaluate all other risks, the conclusion is always "yes, but then we drive!" :)

Throws in a pretty fitting picture, here is a peppered Helena in front of the computer in November 2013 - The year I started my first web shop! SEK 23,000 is the only thing I put into the company myself, then I started with a few products and of the profit I only bought more products and never took a salary once from my individual company in fact. What if I had not dared to take that step there in 2013, then I would not have had a company with a turnover of 3 million now in 2018 :)

Holy Easter
The Easter weekend has been a bit "holy" for me the last two years, not in a religious way but because it has been so intense with work since we opened the salon. But just the Easter weekend we have had closed and 4 days off (/ home work) which feels like the worst holiday LUXURY! Especially the first year when during this period I worked every Saturday myself and always 6-day weeks at the salon.

This year we are open on Saturday but closed the red days, but I do not work on Saturday either so even this Easter it is a long holiday :) So the end of the week has only been about recharging the batteries and filling up the energy account with positive energy and hanging out with the family !

This is how nice we have had it at the checkout this week! So it was a good week to have extra customers because it was so nice when you had to pay later :)

Now I will continue to enjoy the Easter weekend!

Hugs are !! ♥

Natural & fast makeup

Lately, I have been good at putting on make-up in the morning, even on the days when I do not do a step-by-step make-up for the blog.

Before, I was always unmade up if I did not have time to do something for the blog, and that's fine too, but those days I do not have much motivation to have a nice outfit or fix my hair so the sum of the cardamom is that I feel 100% unfixed and not at all inspired. A bit "slack" as well.

But if I just add a little quick base and a nice lip color, I can then have a cozy outfit and carelessly set hair and still enjoy it :)

These days I have exactly the same makeup routine around the eyes, because I like to brighten them up even if I do not do a whole eyeshadow makeup with primer and stuff. And it's to put highlighter and contouring around the eyes too! So fast and yet effective! Today I did exactly that + put a little turquoise under the eyes also just to liven up a little extra.

Face primer - Paese Makeup Base (Matte)
Foundation -
glo Skin Beauty Pressed Base (Golden medium)
Concealer -
Pixi Pat Away Concealing Base (1 Cream)
Contouring - Contouring Palette (2)
Glowy highlighter - Pixi Glow-Y-Powder (London Luster)
Powder - Paese Bamboo Silk Powder
Rouge - Blush (35)
Fixing Mist - Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist

Brow shadow - Benecos Eyebrow Designer (brunette)

Lips - Paese Matt Liquid Lipstick (700) and Benecos Natural Lip Liner (Brown) in the contours

The eyes take about 30 seconds if you ignore the mascara, super simple!

The highlighter and the brown shadow are the same as the contouring of the face.

  1. Highlighter in the corner of the eye
  2. … And in the middle of the eyelid
  3. … And on the brow bone
  4. Brown shadow along the globe line
  5. … And under the eye
  6. Light eyeliner along the waterline, glo Skin Beauty Eyepencil (Peach)
Mascara on the lashes, Magnetic Lash Mascara
  7. Turquoise eyeshadow at the end of the lower lash line, Paese Neo Eyeshadow (687)

Clear!

I apply the highlighter and the brown shadow at the same time as I do the contouring, then it's just a little light pencil, turquoise shadow (if you want) and mascara on the eyes and you're done then.

Hope you were inspired!

Easter make-up with freckles (Cool make-up step by step)

Today's make - up is inspired by Easter and for the first time in my life I have even put on freckles on myself! :)

It was very fun to try something new with the skin and I myself am happy with the result! But at the same time it is difficult to feel comfortable for me who grew up with a lot of acne in my teens, I have a bit of a hard time with this unevenness in the face as I have always tried to strive for as even skin as possible.

But that's what's so fun and good about makeup, you can vary! :)

I also put some freckles on my neck to make it more natural. Geez how different it looked in different lights by the way! I posted a picture in daylight of my smallest story and there it is very visible, but in my bathroom mirror they were almost not visible at all.

Face primer - Paese Makeup Base (Matte)
Foundation -
glo Skin Beauty Pressed Base (Golden medium)
Concealer -
Pixi Pat Away Concealing Base (1 Cream)
Contouring & highlighter - Contouring Palette (2)
Glowy highlighter - Pixi Glow-Y-Powder (London Luster)
Powder - Paese Bamboo Silk Powder
Rouge - Blush (35)
Fixing Mist - Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist

Brow shadow - Paese Kashmir eyeshadow (609)

Freckles - Paese Kashmir eyeshadow (609) applied with a moistened lip brush.

Lips - glo Skin Beauty Lip Liner (Moxie) in the contours, glo Skin Beauty Suede Matte Crayon (Rumor) in the middle and then a little Pixi shea butter lip balm (Ripe raspberry) for a little light shine

A little yellow in the corner of the eye too, Easter in honor :)

  1. Black eyeliner as an eyeliner wing, Paese linea automatic liner (Black glam)
  2. Tone out
  3. Light eye shadow on the eyelid, Paese opal eyeshadow (Caffe latte)
  4. Yellow eye shadow in the corner of the eye and at the end of the eyelid, Paese Neo eyeshadow
  5. Black mascara on the upper lashes and the outer lower lashes, Magnetic lash mascara

What do you think of the freckles? Did I manage to get it naturally? Do I fit in it? :)

It became quite a lot, Miska got a shock haha, but I did not think it became so natural to do a little on the cheekbones and nose only. But I'm used to seeing my friend Frida and she has a lot of freckles, so heavenly nice!

Hug!
