Party makeup before & after

Last Saturday I had a make-up consultation with a girl who wanted to see a party make-up that was quite easy to do, but which still gives a lot of effect :)

Here are some tips that I usually give when you want a party make-up to be quite quick and easy:

Tip 1 - Earthy tones such as beige and brown are easiest to work with, as they are colors that easily blend in with the skin tone when you want soft tones. Colors that are very different from the skin tone (eg black on light skin or colorful colors) provide sharper contrast and are a little harder to work with.

Tip 2 - Many people think that it is easiest to use as few colors as possible, and that the easiest thing is to have only one color on the entire eyelid. But to apply a dark shadow on the entire eyelid and make the whole look good, many may actually find it a bit difficult, it feels easy "too much". Applying the darkest color to the entire eyelid, but then brightening it up by dabbing a lighter shade in the corner of the eye and in the middle of the eyelid, I think is the easiest way to get a nice party make-up.

And should you use several colors next to each other, e.g. light on the inside of the eye and dark on the outside, then it is absolutely easier with more colors! For example, having a medium dark color in between makes it much easier to get a nice transition between the light and the dark.

Tip 3 - Glamorous eye shadows (not full matte, but not necessarily super shimmery either) are easiest to work with, I think. With fully matte shadows, irregularities are often much clearer and many people find it difficult to get soft tones, but if there is a little light-reflecting pigment in the shadow, it is much easier to get a nice result.

Do you still think it's fun with before and after pictures of customers? Starting to get into this more and more now and do not think it is at all as hard to ask customers for a picture anymore, just fun to be able to show them the difference too :)

As of this week, we are three makeup artists on site at the salon now, so much fun! I'm basically always on site, and now Zahra will start working three days a week (which also threads) and on Friday a brand new newcomer will start who I will present in a more detailed post soon - Ida who will start working one day in week to begin with. Ida will possibly also start as an apprentice for permanent makeup with Annika, she is basically a makeup artist but is currently working on tattooing nipples.

As I said, there will be more info about Zahra and Ida soon, and I will also try to take before and after pictures of their customers so you can see how good they are :)

    Hugs are! ♥

    1. Very nice! But how did you apply this then, did you take the dark one over the entire eyelid and then the light one a little on top, right? : D

    2. You're so good! Have checked out all your consultations and decided to book an appointment next time I'm in Uppsala!
