Make-up for bangs (4 tips + product list)

I did this party make-up on a girl who turned one and got this as a surprise gift the same day! Great fun! A make-up that goes well with bangs! :)

She did not know what to do afterwards (it was still in the middle of the day) so we did a bright but festive eye makeup with glitter that suits both during the day and in the evening.

I got to take before and after pictures, which made me very happy because she had a thick bangs, so now I can also share make-up tips for you who also have bangs!

You can fit in any make-up, regardless of hairstyle, but there are some tips that can be helpful if you have such a thick fringe that goes down to the eyes :)

Tip #1 - Highlight the eyelid
A thick fringe can create a shadow on the eyes if you are in a lighting that only comes from above (which it does in many rooms). My tip then is to highlight the eyelid so that the makeup pops up a bit anyway and does not disappear in the shadow.

Highlighting the eyelid can be done in different ways. Example:

    • With a shade that is lighter than your skin tone
    • With shimmer or glitter
    • With a colorful shadow or eyeliner

Tip #2 - Color selection in the globe line
I usually choose a globe line color that is different from the hair color. If you e.g. has dark brown hair and makes a dark brown smokey eye on the entire eyelid and up over the globe line, everything becomes dark only from the eye and up into the hair, which is absolutely very cool (!) but many find it difficult to feel comfortable in such makeup.

If you have a light hair color, I would mark the crease line and / or eyelid with a darker tone, so that you get a contrast between the eye and the fringe.

If you have a dark hair color, I would mark the globe line with a shade that is not as dark as the hair. In the make-up in today's post, I have used a shadow that is darker than the skin tone (to get a marking effect on the eye) but which is lighter than the hair color. You can also make a smokey eye that is darker closest to the eye and becomes lighter up the globe line - eg black closest to the lashes, dark brown on the rest of the eyelid and light brown in the globe line. Then you can do a dark make-up but it is not as dark all the way up to the fringe.

Tip #3 - An eye makeup that lifts the gaze
The eyebrows lift the gaze, it actually lifts the whole face. When you have a fringe that covers the eyebrows, you can miss that effect - but another way to look up is to have the most focus on the top of the eyes.

Ex: If you put dark over and under the eye, the gaze opens / enlarges. If you put dark just over the eye, you lift your gaze.

In this make-up, I have therefore put only a little of the dark shadow under the eye to get a discreet selection, but I have the eyeliner and mascara only laid on top - to get that lift.

Tip #4 - Darkness under the eyes
As I said, a thick fringe can in some lighting create a shadow on the eyes, which emphasizes the depth you have underneath. Because even if you do not have bags or darkness under the eyes, almost everyone has a small depth just under the eye, which can look like a darkness when the shadow falls there.

So I usually lighten up a little extra under the eyes! You can either do it with a lighter concealer or you do it with a light contouring shadow if you use it for the rest of the face.

Here is a close-up of the result! What was fun with the fringe was that it shaded the photo light a bit, which made the glitter look good in the picture, in our salon light, the glitter always disappears in the picture otherwise.
