New Year's summary 2016 (short)

Have you had a wonderful New Year's Eve and a good start to the new year? :)

I have! A perfect mix of relaxing, family coziness and fun work at the salon. Now I have lots of new-year-on-company stuff to grab and new start feelings in my body.

Autumn is always the time of year when I feel most inspired, but since I lost the world's finest mother in June, autumn was so extremely heavy. This is probably the first year that I agree with everyone who says that the past year was a really shitty year…

But hey, how strong you are anyway! Of course, it's still very heavy, but I'm starting to get my motivation back and I feel like I want to get to grips with a lot of things.

Mid 2016 in quick succession:

  • A year ago we had the salon open for only 3 months and still felt like a beginner with the staff and so many new ways of working haha. We had no proper routines and it felt like I was running in a whirlwind all day, a lot due to energy thieves around me in combination with a lot to do - and without a work structure, stress was a fact. Around New Year, I always write down what I think will happen in the coming year and last year's text begins with "It's soon February and I only now have time to sit down and write down my hopes and dreams 2016 - it describes my life quite well right now." Lol.
  • In March, I, Miska and Annika started to go on business development with Peragenda - highly recommended if I have any entrepreneurs around Uppsala who read this :) We set goals for the company and have a structure for how we should work with everything from financial follow-up to communication, staff and new ideas. We not only set goals and keep our fingers crossed, but make sure we reach them too! :)
  • Summer is a big haze for me. 2017 will be the first year without my beloved mother. I was home for 3 weeks after that but it takes an eternity to really get back on my feet. I cried in the car on the way to work, broke down as soon as I got inside the door of the house. And sometimes it has felt like I live two different lives, one happy Helena when I have nice people and fun jobs around me, and another Helena walking around with a rock on her shoulders.
  • In September, my two amazing makeup artists started working 75% at the salon, and it has been absolutely magical! The salon goes well even when I have worked with admin stuff in the office and start to get the blog back on its feet after a year of chaos.
  • On New Year's Eve, we pulled out the cash report for the year and could be happy about what a mega-job we have done together! In a way, I do not fit in as a self-employed person because I walk around almost all the time with catastrophic thoughts for the economy, check the bookings several times a day and it cuts into me every time a customer does not show up on time or cancels at the last second. But it's really cool to be able to see hard work in physical numbers, numbers that you do not have to be ashamed of :)

0-2017 citation

This is how I feel for 2017! ;)

In 2017, I want to:

  • Have more focus on developing blogging and also in several channels, put more gunpowder on instagram, youtube and beauty guides in the webshop. And work more with marketing.
  • Have a good work structure regarding the above in order to be able to plan the time better and get more blog material out.
  • Start renovating my mother's house where Miska and I will move in together with my sister Mia and her two children ♥
  • Decrease significantly on animal diets and eat more vegetable-based foods.
  • Blog even more about entrepreneurship! I think it's so fun and got a good response when I asked you before if you want to see more of it, but it's a bit difficult to get in naturally, but I'll really work on that :)
  • Achieve our goals that we set for the company by June 2017!
  • And I would so like to go on a trip with Miska this autumn, not only have time and advice but also have peace and quiet in my body to be able to relax. As it has looked the previous year, a trip had been a bit wasted because we had still talked jobs all the time hehe.

I have kickstarted 2017 by running a detox with the diet this week, and now I will dig into the horoscope and write down a private summary of the past year and how I want the coming year to be, which I will read next New Year's Eve . It will be the 3rd year now, really fun! :)

2017 here I come! ♥

Cover pimples - Quick coverage of pimples

I have recently tested some new skin care products after using the organic and 100% natural brand Sanctum for over 2 years, I think it is now.

And my skin has, even though it should have gotten used to it now, not liked this change in routines. What I have started with is r-Retinoate from Medik8 and 2% BHA Liquid from Paula's Choice - although the latter I have basically stopped with although I think it feels so extremely exciting, but I get so tight-dry in the face that I really have woken up and gone up at night and lubricated me with moisturizer haha.

Anyway, that was not what I was going to talk about haha.

I therefore have (I think that is why in any case) an incredible amount of pimples at the moment. And really hard pretty big too! But instead of thinking it is 100% disturbing, I take the opportunity and use them in a helpful makeup post :)

When I make up acne to get as natural, fresh and durable makeup as possible, I always use a little of several products instead of a lot of few. Then the result will be much more natural and nice, I think. But sometimes, or quite often, you just want to quickly remove everything and get a make-up that is both good-looking, durable, covers all pimples and does not require a quarter in front of the make-up mirror.

Therefore, I now thought to show you today's base that I had today, which with only two products provides full coverage and a sustainable result:

img_3931_111

Above you see three before and after pictures in different angles. What difference does it make? :)

  1. Creamy concealer - gloMinerals Under Eye Concealer (beige)
If you want a concealer that really covers, I recommend a cream concealer. I use it from gloMinerals which is actually adapted to have under the eyes but I also love it on pimples because it is thin in texture and becomes very natural but is still incredibly opaque. It has a light shade and a little darker (+ is available in several shade scales as well, everything from super light to dark skin) and I usually use the lightest under the eyes and then mix a perfect skin tone when I have it on my face. I myself use the shade Beige.
  2. Mineral Foundation - gloMinerals Pressed Base Foundation (Golden Medium)
Mineral foundation is so flexible to get a quick coverage. Apply thinly where you do not need much coverage at all, and more where you need more coverage. You can dab a lot to build on the foundation and get a comprehensive result, but if you have a concealer underneath as well, you do not need much at all. And in addition to providing a quick coverage, it fixes the concealer at the same time so that it fits better + that you do not need to have powder over that you need with many liquid foundations.

In addition, it nourishes the skin with mineral foundation, it contains few ingredients, allows the skin to breathe and contains green tea that nourishes the skin. It also has spf 18 (a bit depending on how thick you apply).

makeup acne

In other words:
1. Dab on concealer on the blemishes
Finish with foundation, dab on the blemishes and then wrap all over the face.

img_3897_11

Surely there will be a big difference? :)

img_3970_11

You get quite flat and dull though, so feel free to supplement with conctouring, blush, eyebrows, highlighter and lips for more life in the face :)

Two big thumbs up! Quick and easy :)

New Year's make-up for glasses

I designed the golden New Year's make-up that I showed you the day before yesterday to also be able to show tips on how to think about making a party make-up for glasses. Perfect for New Year's Eve!

Then the make-up is purely "design-wise" not something you need for glasses, but it contains many details that you can think of for a make-up that makes the eyes look good even under sharp frames :)

The glasses I have used are a pair of wide, black frames, but you can use the same basic tips no matter what frames you have.

img_3485_111

That I have changed lipstick between the pictures has nothing to do with the make-up tips, I only regretted the color choice when the eyes were ready :)

Where under the arches are the eyes least visible?
Look at your eyes with the glasses on, and check which part of the eye is covered a lot by the frames. If you make a dark smokey eye that covers the entire eyelid and goes up high towards the eyebrow, the whole eyelid, arches and eyebrows will flow together and your eyes will be hidden behind it.

On me, these arches cover quite a lot of the eyelid, so I have put light and glitter on the eyelid to make that part visible and draw attention. And has not sooted the dark so high up that it ends up over the arch.

Where under the arches are the eyes most visible?
Check in the mirror again with the glasses on, where are the eyes most visible? There you can put more gunpowder on wide sweeping, dark tones, enlarge the gaze and fun details that "take place". Because there you can put on make-up on a larger area without it making any difference to the frames.

For my glasses, this is on the underside of the eyes. Therefore, I have enlarged the look with a light waterline, dark soot along the lower lash line and quite wide as well, and even pulled down the shadow a little extra in the outer corner of the eye for a fun detail that draws a little interest and focus to the eyes.

img_3577_111

Highlight your eyes
There are more ways to highlight the eyes besides glitter and a magnifying gaze. For example:

Complementary colors - I have chosen gold because it emphasizes the blue in my eyes. You can also use complementary colors to emphasize other things, e.g. gold glitter on a blue make-up, blue or silver glitter on a brown make-up or a purple eyeliner on a green eye shadow.

Contrasts - Contrasts emphasize each other. If you only have light, only dark, only glitter, etc., not much happens in the make-up, but contrasts emphasize each other. So feel free to mix dark and light colors, glittery / shimmery and matte so the shadows emphasize each other :)

eyeee

If you want to see the tutorial and which products I have used, as well as full pictures without glasses, then take a look at mine previous posts.

Do not forget eyebrows & lips
If you can shape your eyebrows so that they protrude above the shape of the glasses or are visible in another way, it is a great idea. When the eyebrows blend in behind the arches, they disappear a bit.

A color on the lips to get some balance in the makeup and not have all the focus on the eyes is also very nice I think! Absolutely nothing must but a good idea if you do not want the glasses to take too much focus.

If you do not want anything on your lips, you can also smack with more blush so as not to have all the focus on the eyes :)

img_3597_111

Summary - Make-up bright and preferably glittery where the glasses cover the eyes a lot, and apply the powder with soot, dark shadows and magnifying effects where there is more space in the frames. Feel free to choose colors and shadows that emphasize each other and create contrasts.

And remember that an eye makeup that feels like a real party party easily looks casual when you put on your glasses. So feel free to maximize with a lot of everything!

Hope you find the post informative and inspiring :)

Hug! ♥
