The Entrepreneur in Me - Part 2 Do not listen to others

Today I listened to this interview with Helena Bergström on Värvet.se, and feels a high recognition factor when she talks about film reviews. She says that you can get so incredibly different reviews same film, because everyone thinks differently and you never get away from that. And the point of it all was that the most important thing is not to listen too much to what others think (while still working on the film) that you lose your own vision that one had from the beginning.

It is namely very easy to start changing things due to what others give for advice and tips (even though it is of course positive with feedback) but you must not forget what you think is good and bad, because then you will at least not be happy in the end.

And the same goes for having a small business. Had I listened to everyone's advice, I would never have been where I am today. When talking about your business with people, do not feel bad if many people come up with opinions and advice that are basically good but that you can not or do not want to implement. For an idea can be super good, without being super good for you and your company. You can not listen to everyone, then you will be divided, but as long as you listen to yourself, it will be good anyway.

Examples of advice I have received in the last two years:

  • You should apply for extra work in kindergarten or ICA because you barely take out any salary“It's a bit tight in the wallet in the beginning when all the money that comes in is put back into the company in order to grow, but if you can afford to live without working extra, that's the best thing. Starting your own business is more than just a full-time job, so why waste time on something that does not advance your career?
  • Go to Öregrund in the summer and face paint children in the center!“Also one thing that can give quick money, a good day, but it is not so rewarding if you want to build a brand.
  • Promote more that you do bridal makeup, and go around to different cities and makeup“Weddings are a very good target group if you freelance as a makeup artist, but it is incredibly time-consuming to go around and put on make-up. I do not want to make a living from making up for others, but want to work with the blog, webshop and products :) Going to another city for a bridal make-up basically takes a whole day, and on that day I can instead get lots of work done as takes me where I am want to come. As I said, it is important not to forget your vision, and to think long-term.

These tips are basically good advice, but not something I have personally listened to because I think more long-term. And you get tips and advice like this almost all the time, every time you talk about your job with another person. Which of course is fun and good, but you have to learn to turn it off as well.

Summary - Do not always listen to what others say but think one step further, even if it may be a good piece of advice / tip. And do not forget why you started ♥

Now I will cover the legends after a long but incredibly rewarding working day! :)

Bigger eyes with smokey eyes (Step by step)

I am often asked how to make the eyes look bigger, and there are several ways to do it - either you can open your eyes as much as possible with the help of the contrast between light and dark colors, or you can make a sweep that is faded quite far out so that you sort of "pull out" the gaze in all directions. It is very effective!

Not all sooting enlarges the eyes, if you stay in a small area around the eyes you will not get the same pulling effect. Dare to put make-up quite far out from the eyelid, both over the crease line and on the underside of the eyes :) And work a lot with the make-up brush so that you get really soft edges.

And a common misconception is that a dark eyeliner along the waterline reduces the eyes, which is only partially true. If you first paint a line along the waterline and then fade it down to the lower lash line, you actually get a magnifying effect instead, compared to if you only paint one line along the waterline. Dare to brass a little darker under the eyes and you get an enlarging effect, preferably wider in the middle than on the sides.

Today you get an example of such make-up, which is made with Pixi's super shimmery eyedust shadows ”Fairy Dust”Which are magically beautiful! :)

  1. Eyeshadow primer on the entire eyelid and lower lash line, Pixi Eye Bright Primer
Light eye shadow in the middle of the eyelid, Pixi Fairy Dust (Gold Dust)
  2. Bronze-copper eyeshadow on the sides of the eyelid, Pixi Fairy Dust (Copper Sheen)
  3. Look straight ahead and mark the globe line with the same eye shadow.
  4. Fade the edges
  5. Apply the same eye shadow also along the lower lash line
  6. Apply the light eye shadow also in the corner of the eye
  7. Green eyeliner along the waterline + down the lower lash line, and thin along the upper lash line, gloMinerals Precise Micro Eyeliner (Teal)
  8. Black mascara on all lashes, Magnetic lash mascara

IMG_1136_111

Do you understand what I mean by sweeping? It does not have to be a completely black sweep to be effective, as long as you dare to apply shade above the globe line and along the lower lash line (preferably wider in the middle of the lower lash line) you will make your eyes look bigger.

If you also want your eyes to look open and alert, the light in the middle of the eyelid and in the corner of the eye is a very good idea :)

Surely you can not but love the green eyeliner? Loooove! It is waterproof and fits like a glove, in addition it is so very easy to paint with as the tip is very thin, that is why the pen is called "micro".

Hope you like today's look you too, hug you ♥

Eyebrow tattoo before & after

You wanted to see more posts about permanent makeup, which makes me happy! :) Even though I did not do the job, I think it's so much fun to write about! ♥

Last week, Annika tattooed our makeup artist Sandra's eyebrows, and here are before and after pictures of the incredibly beautiful result:

Surely she is absolutely fantastically good Annika?

In the full pictures, the after picture is actually taken the next day, but the rest are taken immediately after. We took a new full picture because she put up her hair in the afternoon after she got a tattoo, which I did not think of then, and it bothered me so brutally that she had her hair different in the pictures so we took a new one haha.

What do you think? :)

gloMinerals Lip Crayons (Lovely lip pencils matte / creamy)

What's new are mostly gloMinerals products, but also some new shimmery eye shadows from Paese and Long Lash Gel from Refectocil that I have been using for several years now!

I will show you everything soon, but today I thought I would show you some of the super nice lipstick pens that we just got home from gloMinerals:

IMG_0816_111

I love crayon pencils, they give the same results as a light pen, but are more shaped like a chalk which makes it easy to apply. It also has a built-in pencil sharpener in the cork so you always have the sharpener close at hand when you want a freshly sharpened tip for perfect precision :)

The pencils contain Vitamin C and E as well as mango oil and shea butter which makes the formula incredibly caring and moisturizing for the lips.

gloMinerals Cream Glaze Crayon is a creamy lipstick with a high glam factor! Ger and luxurious, glossy look. Costs SEK 259

gloMinerals Suede Matte Crayon gives your lips a matte, silky smooth surface, and sits for several hours. Has a mild scent of peppermint which gives a fresh scent and a cooling effect. Costs SEK 259

Nice huh? :) I usually do not care so much for such high-gloss lip products on myself, because even though most of them are soft and smooth and not a bit sticky, I like more the feeling of not having anything on the lips at all. But these, I could have them on my lips all the time!

They are soft and creamy on the lips, while you almost forget that you are wearing something because it feels so good. And you do not need much at all for a comprehensive and nice result :)

And do I even need to mention what I think of the colors? I want to eat them !!! This is the shade Jetset I have in the picture at the top of the post, pop-red!

glominerals-matte-lip-pen

But my favorites are without a doubt these matte colors, I'm crazy about just about everyone! The three in the top row are mild "lip color colors" in different degrees of darkness that are incredibly useful. And the ones below are perfect if you want a little more color, Sorbet is a cool pink shade that breaks off so damn nicely into a cozy winter outfit. Crush is a red color that really pops on the lips, and Bombshell is a more classic red shade that is so crazy nice when it is completely matte. Love!

Many lipsticks that are matte feel a little dry on the lips, but not these, they are something between creamy to the point that they barely feel on the lips at all, soft and smooth are two better words :) And above all, they get a full pot for durability, they sit on the lips for so long, the first time I tested I got a shock when I 5 hours after makeup checked myself in the mirror and it still looked just as nice :)

As I said, I fell in love with the shade Demure at first glance as you saw in this make-up last week:

You will see a LOT of these here in the blog in the near future, I am completely sold ♥

You will find all gloMinerals products here :)

10.0.6 Down to the pore - Pore strips

I have received a home sample of "pore strips" from the skin care brand Formula 10.0.6 that you have on your nose, which is a type of patch you attach to the skin and then when you pull it off, blackheads and impurities follow. Can be compared to all these black face masks that become like a black leather mask that you pull off, which you have probably seen a lot of? :)

Formula 10.0.6 Down to the pore comes in a package with 6 stripes and costs SEK 79.

IMG_0538_111

These pore strips contain tea tree which "detoxifies" the nose thanks to antibacterial properties and is also soothing to the skin. As well as kaolin which absorbs oil and impurities from the pores. Recommended use is 1-3 times a week, and I have only tested once so can not answer how the result will be after regular use.

IMG_0545_111

The strip itself is matte on one side, and on the other side is a protective plastic as it is a bit sticky.

Why do you do this?
Either you can do this as a quick treatment before e.g. a party. A quick way to get rid of visible blackheads! But it is a good thing to do regularly also to clean the pores, then the toner and all skin creams come in properly and can work much better. In addition, there is often a lot of dirt and bacteria in the blackheads, which for logical reasons you of course want to get rid of from the skin.

What to think about?
The pores are still open immediately afterwards, and it may take a while for them to contract again. Therefore, I recommend doing this in the evening, and not if you are going to put on make-up immediately afterwards. Use soothing products afterwards and let the skin rest. It is also good that the strips contain tea tree which has antibacterial properties.

So do this the day before you go on something special :)

IMG_0557_111

Use:
1. Wash your face.
2. Wet the nose thoroughly, otherwise the strip will not adhere. Use warm water and the pores will open up a bit as well.
3. Remove the protective plastic and attach the strip over the nose (or in the desired area, you can use it on the cheeks, etc. as well, but it is made for the nose)
Let it dry and work for 10-15 minutes.
5. When the strip is completely stiff, you can pull it off carefully, and then all the pores will follow!

Tip! I washed my face quickly, but for the most effective results, the pores should be as open and warm as possible. Make a facial sauna before (boil water, remove the pan from the stove, keep your head over the water vapor for about 10 minutes). For best results, I would peel the skin afterwards as well and finish with a face mask - but I did not have time for that myself.

IMG_0568_111

Red as attan I became afterwards haha! And on me there was some glue left on the skin afterwards, so it can be a good idea to wash afterwards as well.

What do I think 10.0.6 Down to the pore?
I like them! I have tried several black face masks that work with the same principle, but they make it a little worse to pull off and for me reputation many small hairs on the purchase as well. This one feels milder against the skin, but still effective - it was seen on all the pores that were stuck to the strip later.

However, if you have blackheads all over your face, it is a better idea with a mask, this is for a fairly small area.

The use was simple, effective even if you did it quickly with quick wash and hot water, but will certainly be even more effective if you heat the skin properly before. It felt a bit like plaster when it dried but it was easy to pull off.

Afterwards, the skin around the nose felt incredibly clean, and also very smooth. Here you see what the strip looked like after removal:

IMG_0589_111

Can you show your blackheads like this or is it disgusting? ;)

I photographed before and after on the nose as well, but did not think so far before so only photographed straight from the front, so the difference is not super big because as you can see it is mostly on the sides, around the nostrils, that I had a lot of pores. So I skip the pictures in the post.

Have any of you tested these? What do you think? :)
