My business week v. 21

This has been an incredibly fun week!

Also a little extra intense week, I must say, which you may have indirectly noticed already because I did not have time to blog as regularly as usual. But then it gets huh sometimes!

But today I will just be free and hang out at home in the garden, you must not forget your health - I have been extra reminded of this this week :) ♥

Lots of customers and Saturday jobs!
There is a lot of pressure on the salon now before the summer which is so much fun !!

I have had an unusual number of customers, 16 and about 11 hours in a week is not so much for those who only work with customers but for me who mainly works with other things and takes customers "on the side", it has become intense :)

When I came home from work yesterday (I worked at the salon again on Saturday) I was really completely exhausted. After a pizza dinner in the sun, I then took a bath and worked with the computer in the bath while the hair wrapping seemed haha.

No we do not have a direct fancy bathroom haha, with silver tape on the bathtub edge, rusty pipes and a laundry basket upside down as a computer table. But it's good enough for little me!

Summer salon - Planning and preparation
We are making our waiting room a summer oasis! Deadline is May 31 when we have our summer event but we will have that styling all summer.

Among other things, we have ordered artificial grass to be rolled out and palm trees, plants and hanging plants in plastic that came this week!

Here are Annika and Miska who have just started unpacking the first delivery with stuff, so fun to go all in! We will ev. buy a small waterfall too :) Next week you will see more because then we will have had our summer event!

Meeting with Disruptive Materials
I was so happy when Paiam who is "sales director" at Disruptive Materials came to the salon with a bottle of bubbly as a thank you for all I have helped them with, so good!

We had a meeting and sat and talked for an hour, now they are starting to get so far in development that things go under secrecy so I can unfortunately not say much more. BUT I can say that the plans have changed a bit and I have been extremely pissed after the meeting!

Continuation follows, I must say;)

That a small gesture can do so much! As an entrepreneur, it is my job to make others understand and feel how important they are, so you are not spoiled by being the one who gets appreciation, I was so happy :)

Beauty Brunch with Lina Ekh & Silja Line
When I was invited to this event which started with the words "You are a strong entrepreneur that we like - therefore you deserve a break!" so I thought - "yes I actually do" haha!

Lina who is a makeup artist and runs the beauty blog Makeupbylina held a Beauty Brunch together with Silja Line with a focus on well-being. I really have to give credit to Lina for this event, so good in so many ways!

A while ago, Lina wrote the blog post "Good girl - Thoughts of burnout”Who was very divided and was then contacted by Silja Line where they highlighted the problem and how important it is to take a break and take care of themselves.

I took less photos than usual because I really tried to be in the present (that was a bit of the theme haha) in addition, they had a photographer on site who yesterday emailed out the photos (perfect timing!) So instead you get real professional photos from the event which is photographed by the photographer Kajsa Göransson :)

Photographer: Kajsa Göransson.

While waiting to go on the Silja Line boat! :)

Jannike Viola, Tove Castor and I!

The day started with everyone getting a bathrobe with their name on it and then we changed into swimwear!

Lina started the event by saying "everyone we have invited is hand-picked because you talented entrepreneurs who work hard and make a difference in the industry and therefore deserve a break!".

So go ♥ I feel really honored that I was one of these guests, it was not just people who work in beauty who were invited. Being among all these awesome people and being one of them feels very nice!

Lina also highlighted that a large part of why stress is so great in society today is due to the mobile phone - therefore the event started at Silja Line's spa department with a mobile ban!

Photographer: Kajsa Göransson.

It looks like I'm sitting and laughing to myself but Helene sitting there behind actually haha :) This was just before they told us to put down the mobiles.

So in my opinion this mobile ban was a success!

1. First, you let go of the stress of taking photos and filming all the nice and wonderful things that you otherwise want to show directly on social media. Because it was really magical among all the whirlpools, we sat outside and ate fruit in the sun out on the deck and everyone was so happy!

2. They started talking to each other in a completely different way, partly because they lived in the present but also because everyone was an entrepreneur and had so much in common around this with stress and performance. So it was not difficult to find topics of conversation directly, even though you mostly floated away and talked about other things of course :)

I do not have that hard to let go of the phone at home actually, but still got a thought about how nice it was that No was working on the phone. It was not only that I lived in the present but also that there were people around me who did it too!

Photographer: Kajsa Göransson.

Here we sit and just have it so sick nice! We talked about various beauty treatments, were inspired by "do it yourself stuff" by Dnilva and that both me and Mariette are brutal snoozers while Frida do not even sound the alarm :)

Then we moved towards the lunch restaurant where Lina herself shared her story. WOW what a powerful story about when the good-girl-lifestyle can go crazy too far. It is really important not to run out of yourself, if you do not have the health with you, the career loses all its meaning.

Best gang! @helenesjostedt @steff_stefani @akaannica @dnilva @marietteofficial @oscarcharlesbrehmer @kickimakeupartist @fridaselkirk @monasuniversum @ imakeyousmile.se @tovecastor @jannikeviola @angelicalagergren @jessicalagergren @tildanordh @johannadjerf @tomassekelius @sarasongbird @chloelillo @linneaclaeson @trisiaa @ bodybybecca.se @feliciaaveklew

I really felt so pampered at this event! Went home with a really nice feeling in the body :) However, a less nice feeling in the fingers:

So the goodie bag !! In addition to lots of nice products, the goodie bag also contained a cruise with Deluxe cabin and breakfast AND you got the bathrobe in terry with your name on it - which I have planned to buy because we built a sauna at home and I really needed one :)

If you want to see more pictures, Lina has published them all in a blog post from the day that you can read here!

My energy is precious
I just have to add one thing that I was thinking about when Lina spoke.

Lina not only highlighted the problem of stress, pressure and mental illness but also tips, advice and keys for how to minimize stress and the risk of wearing yourself out. One of the tips was to hang out with people who give you energy and dare to say no to all friends who do not.

In an episode of the Shulman Show podcast with Isabella Löwengrip, she told me about how precious her energy is and I was so inspired! Isabella was a bit over the top at this point haha but that mindset that you should not waste your energy is so heavenly good. And energy does not just mean that one do things - but also everything you see, hear people tell, conflicts etc. Or to pick up the phone 250 times in one day;)

In Lina's blog post from the event, she has posted all the keys she told us about. You can read them here.

See your energy as a watering can and that you should only water where you want it to be green! Sounded like a cliché but I came up with it myself just at the time of writing, I think, otherwise subconsciously stolen;)

Playing photographer again!
Last week we photographed teeth whitening pictures and this week it was time again with beard pictures!

Annika's friend posed as a model, our barber Niclas fixed his beard, I fixed my eyebrows and then I took photos both inside the salon and outside by a motorcycle :)

I love photography, it's so much fun that we all make our own commercials!

So my photo posture, ergonomic and good haha! There were a lot of good pictures, I have gone through them and selected the best ones but have not had time to edit yet :)

My computer is being repaired
Last Wednesday I handed in my computer for troubleshooting and hopefully repair I thought but they did not find the error so it cost me 600 SEK for nothing. But they would replace the screen for free (you apparently get it if the computer is less than 4 years old and has worn glass) so it was nice in any case.

In the meantime, I have borrowed Annika's computer. Easy to do, you might think, but when you have all your work and routines on one computer, it's not just about borrowing another and starting work as usual in a second. I first had to transfer all the pictures, templates and stuff I work with + shared dropbox folders and things that are connected here and there. Then little things like that her Photoshop does not look exactly the same as mine, etc. Everything just takes time!

But it has gone well in any case, I could not show the metrics when we had a hug meeting for that document I had missed and some such little things that I had to solve afterwards. But no major disasters :)

However, I was not prepared for the fact that it would be emotionally difficult to leave the computer! But I have been using it constantly for 3 years now, I work at it and then when I go to sleep it rocks me to sleep with Netflix;) It is never turned off!

So in conclusion, I want to wish everyone an incredibly nice Sunday and remember not to waste your energy, take a break, put away your mobile and remember that you are the best!

Hug ♥

Purple makeup step by step

This purple make-up step by step I received a lot of compliments for, both from customers at the salon and when I shopped at ICA :) Fun!

Hope you like it too!

Colored face primer - glo Tinted Primer SPF 30 (Medium)
Concealer -
Pixi Pat Away Concealing Base (1 Cream)
Contouring - Contouring Palette (2)
Rouge - Blush (35)
Fixing Mist - Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist
Powder - Paese Bamboo Silk Powder

Brynpenna - glo Skin Beauty Micro Brow Liner (Ash and Little Raven)

Lipstick - glo Lip Liner (Soulmate)

I really love purple! How nice! It is also a color that is very easy to wear and feel comfortable in if you are not used to colorful shades. Dark purple is kind of the same effect as dark brown, but a little "more fun" :)

The light pink and the two purple eye shadows I have used are all three from the trio palette Paese Kashmir Trio in shade 682.

  1. Eyeshadow primer, Pixi eye bright primer
Light pink eye shadow on the inside of the eyelid
  2. Dark purple eye shadow as if you are going to paint an eyeliner with a wing but only paint the top, like a line :)
  3. Continue with the dark purple eye shadow also along the globe line
  4. Fill in with the purple eye shadow on the eyelid
  5. Fade the purple shadow in the globe line
  6. Mix the liquid Kryolan Cake Liner Sealer with the purple eye shadow and paint an eyeliner on the inside of the lash line.
  7. Same with the light pink and paint eyeliner wing
  8. Dark purple eyeshadow at the end of the lower lash line and under the eyeliner
  9. Light purple eye shadow in the fade in the globe line and along the entire lower lash line
Plum purple eyeliner at the end of the lower lash line and the waterline, Paese Linea Automatic Liner (Plum Glam)
  10. Black eyeshadow at the end of the eyelid and at the bottom of the lower lash line, Paese cashmere eyeshadow (602)
  11. Black mascara on all lashes, Magnetic lash mascara

Clear!

With the eyebrow pen I also made a small beauty spot on the cheek, I get the urge for it sometimes! The dot on the nose and under the nostril is natural indeed. Have never thought of them until now when the dots became like a triangle haha! I had to look at my previous pictures and they are clearly visible on everyone actually, I'm so used to seeing them that I do not think about them. Have you thought about the fact that I have two beauty spots on my nose? :) Fint ju!

Bridal makeup before & after

Last Monday I had a make-up consultation with a girl who is getting married in August! She is not getting married in Uppsala so she could not book a regular bridal makeup with us on the big day but would show her other makeup artist how she wants it! :)

Here is the result:

BASE:
Face primer - Pixi Flawless & poreless primer
Foundation - Pixi H2O Skintint (2 Nude)
Concealer - glo Under eye concealer (Golden)
Contouring & matt highlighter - Contouring Palette (No. 2)
Luminous highlighter - Pixi Glow-Y-Powder (London Luster)
Rouge - glo Skin Beauty Blush (Papaya)
Powder - Paese Bamboo Silk Powder
Fixing mist - Pixi makeup fixing mist

The base make-up is selected to suit oily skin, give a natural coverage and is without sun protection because it will take a lot of photos at the wedding and then SPF can reflect the light so that you look brighter or grayish in the face.

EYEBROW:
Brynpenna - glo Skin Beauty Miro brow liner (Light brown)

EYES:
Eyeshadow Primer - Pixi eye bright primer
Eyeshadows - glo Shadow Quad (Bon Voyage)
Light eyeliner along the waterline - gloMinerals Eye Pencil (Peach)
Eyeliner - Kryolan HD Cream Liner (Ebony)
Mascara - Magnetic lash mascara

LIPS:
Lip pencil in the contours - Benecos Lip Liner (Brown)
Lipstick - glo Lipstick (Bella)

These types of lips are great wedding lips!
1. It lasts a long time and once it needs to be improved, it does not look strange if you do not do it immediately because the lip color is quite close to the natural lip color.
2. If you kiss, the lip color will not be as clear on the person you are marrying.
3. Marking the lips with a slightly darker lip pencil makes the lip shape look more well-shaped and "fixed" and means that you do not need a mirror to improve, because even when you eat, the lip color does not just disappear into the edges but you can easily improve on the lipstick in the middle only!

I took a picture when she also closes her eyes and shows it even though that picture happened to be a bit blurred. But still good to see how the shadows are applied to the eyelid, I thought!

It is very common to do your own bridal makeup and then it is perfect to book a make-up consultation before :) You can book an appointment online directly at our home page! (I am not included in the online booking, but my colleagues are also super-duper-skilled!)

Summer make-up - Yellow in the corner of the eye

Who said colorful makeup needs to be complicated? :)

Dab yellow eyeshadow in the corner of the eye and choose a lipstick in coral and you have a nice summer make-up in one minute!

Face primer - Paese Makeup Base (Matte)
Concealer -
Pixi Pat Away Concealing Base (1 Cream)
Foundation - gloMinerals Pressed Base foundation (Golden medium)
Contouring - Contouring Palette (2)
Powder - Paese Bamboo Silk Powder
Rouge - Blush (35)
Fixing Mist - Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist

Brynpenna - glo Skin Beauty Micro Brow Liner (Ash and Little Raven)

Lipstick - glo Skin Beauty Lipstick (Knockout)

Nice detail with the yellow huh? If you want, you can make an eyeliner with a wing or something like that too, but I kept it very simple!

Almost so it is superfluous with a tutorial on this haha.

  1. Yellow eye shadow in the corner of the eye, Paese Neo Eyeshadow (662)
  2. Mascara on all lashes, Magnetic lash mascara

And then I actually put eyeshadow primer + powder on the eyelid, but that's just because I get such oily eyelids during the day. Otherwise, it is not super important with eye primer for just a little yellow in the corner of the eye. The eye primer is Pixi Eye Bright Primer.

And then I quickly swept with the contouring shadow in the globe line also when I did the contouring in the face, so had a little darkness at the globe line before I started with the eyes.

If I had not done different make-up for the blog every day, this would probably have been my standard make-up this summer! :)

My business week v. 20

Now it's Sunday again and it's time to summarize the work week that has been! :)

I almost get a little scared of how fast time goes, in less than two weeks we have our summer event and then it's June. JUNE!

Photographed advertising images for teeth whitening
We have a lot of prospective wedding couples who do teeth whitening before they get married, great fun! Now we have opened up lots of teeth whitening times this summer and even evenings in fact and are ready to spread white smiles on the conveyor belt :)

We will market teeth whitening a little extra for all future spouses as well. We also have barbers so it's a perfect makeover for all the guys who are getting married this summer!

First we thought of making an advertising picture where the bride has very white teeth and the groom very yellow, and write something fun about them matching each other. But then we ran on the theme that the guy's teeth should match the wedding dress instead.

We do not have much time left for fun projects right now so it had to go fast - I did some curls in Annika's hair, then she and Miska had to line up to look super cute for a few seconds haha.

Annika finished in about a quarter of an hour, then we went out and found a suitable photo place just 1 minute from the salon, took maybe 15 pictures and then we went back and continued working.

We work according to the kiss principle as Annika usually says - keep int simple stupid;) Fast and efficient!

Incredibly fast I was in photoshop too I must say. The pictures Miska got the best of were not the same pictures that Annika got the best of, we did not take so many and it was a bit uncomfortable for them to try to look dear in front of me because Miska is my boyfriend haha. So this finished image is actually a clip from two different images :)

Surprise for my roommate!
This is not really part of the job, but as a self-employed person who sometimes works from morning to night, the job is affected by the private sector. All time is potential working time. I feel so sick of thinking now haha!

For evenings, weekends and red days, I have for the past two weeks secretly renovated our kitchen, basically completely alone! Because my sister Mia (who Miska and I live with) was in Cyprus for 2 weeks and I wanted to surprise her with a completely renovated kitchen when she came home. Sister of the year I know;);)

Said and done!

Last Monday I had to make an effort not to think so much about them coming home in the evening - because when I tried to imagine the surprise reaction, I became so excited that I could not focus on the job haha.

She was super happy of course! And finally I can 1. work in the morning and evening now without the stress of stealth renovation and 2. have a nice kitchen that I can have as a home office! :)

Here I am with my morning coffee and my to-do list in the new kitchen! It is Viktoria's tail that sticks out too, she wanted to sit in my arms ♥

What was on my to-do list, among other things, is a bit of a consulting job for Disruptive Materials, nothing big but I love when they email me with questions! Developing new products is something I am really passionate about and this project is so extremely slow because it is a completely new material (upsalite powder I wrote about before) so just such a thing as answering questions is fun because it at least happens anything :)

Work in the home photo studio!
It has been incredibly worthwhile to work from home every Wednesday that I started with a few weeks ago. Otherwise I do all the photo work before I go to work, but then you do not have time for everything you want.

Among other things, I took pictures of a whole bunch of pictures where I tried to look newly awake but rudely alert haha!

Dreamer or doer?
Being a good entrepreneur is not just about toiling from morning to night, but you also have to make room to get new impressions, inspiration and ideas so that you can develop! That's why this weekend I produced the book that Miska received as a birthday present from me - The book of success by Alexander Pärleros!

I have not read that far yet because I was busy carrying firewood this weekend haha, but in the beginning Alexander talks about the difference between being a dreamer and a doer - and how important it is to be both.

I am definitely both a dreamer and a doer, just such a simple thing as the kitchen I wrote about above. First I saw the dream scenario how happy Mia would be when she was surprised with a nice kitchen, to see her shocked mine - and then 2 weeks later everything was ready!

But I add unbelievable heavy weight in the dream piece because that is the part that makes the whole to-do piece so fun! As it also says in the book "if you run in the wrong direction, it does not matter how fast and efficient you are" I thought that was the head of the nail :) It is SO easy to lose your personal "why". I have started a company to work the way I want, completely in my own way, and that it is so fun to build something and see it grow. It's not because one day I'll be sitting on a mountain of money and just ice cream in the sun all day. It is important to have goals to know where to go, but it is not only the goal that is important to me, I want to have fun every day!

In the book, he attaches great importance to the doer part and I agree with that, partly because those who buy the book have probably already come a long way in the dream part but also because it is important to dare to grab things and not just have them inside in the head. But in general, I think there is a greater shortage of people who dare to dream, it is so often I tell about my dreams completely seriously and get a laugh in response because people think I'm kidding haha. It can be proof that the dream is really, really good;) but above all it is because people are not used to thinking outside the box.

When I told people that "me, Miska and Annika are eager to join us and rent Vålamagasinet and have a big salon there! So nobody thought I was serious at first (Vålamagasinet is the luxury furniture store that had the 367 sqm large room before). And now we are here 2.5 years later and are fully booked over the ears! :)

Perfect for nurturing your dreamer side while gathering strength in the sun! There will probably definitely be more references to this book in my Sunday posts this summer.

Creative Magic Dust
We talk so much in the salon that beauty is wellness and want to highlight the fun with makeup and the feeling you have in the body when you e.g. has been on a treatment :) In addition to talking about it as a pure fact, we have thought about how we could emphasize the feeling itself even more, in a slightly more creative way.

Now we have the idea to start with our own expression Creative Magic Dust! Creative because the salon is called Creative Makeup, and magic dust is the abstract magic that happens with us!

We often hear from people who see our before and after pictures of e.g. make-up that it makes such a big difference even though the make-up is not the worst party look or the like. And the make-up definitely makes a huge difference - but the biggest difference is the charisma of the person! So the inner feeling of thriving in your own appearance!

Sometimes you have customers who come in with a low attitude, are a little cautious in the way and their whole aura is a bit greyish type. Then there is such a difference when they leave the salon - even though they have not done the worst makeover but e.g. just been pampered for a while and got a new shape on his eyebrows, then it can be a completely different person who walks away with a straight back, happy eyes and radiates self-confidence!

It's not just the beautiful eyebrows that made the difference - but that we have spread a little Creative Magic Dust over them :)

One idea is that we should start with this kind of glitter-glow stuff in our pictures! But you can also shoot great commercials and such in this magic dust theme. I love it! Just looking further.

In addition to this, it has of course been all the usual work as well, had many customers, published a new beauty guide post with the new lipsticks in the webshop, tested the model before the summer event, opened up the summer schedule for Mia who is new to us etc. Various things to do !

Now me and my lean, tender body will continue to carry wood into the woodshed so we can manage this winter. It's a varied life I live;)

Have a great Sunday nice you! ♥
