My business week v. 19

Wow what a sunny and nice week we have had! So heavenly nice!

For us, sun means a roasting salon, but also really alert and happy customers, and that's about the memory I have over the week that has been. I have been out among the customers in the store more than usual and have not gotten as much "admin job" done as I usually do but it has not been a major disaster :)

Jobs at Disruptive Materials
This week it was time again for a make-up job at Disruptive Materials - the company that works with the material Upsalite that I wrote about in previous posts.

They are redoing their website and I have come in on several occasions and put on make-up for photography. Always just as nice to come and put on make-up and gossip with everyone who works there! 10 pieces would be made up in total, but there was only one that was "full face makeup" the rest was a little easier.

I love that they have a corner with a high table and high chairs in their staff room! It makes the whole freelance thing much easier :)

The hardest thing about freelancing as a makeup artist (who for me does not freelance so much that I would invest in a folding makeup chair and drag with me) is to make up people who sit on low chairs. Then you stand like a cheese bow and get to soot for it the next day!

I first put on make-up on the morning twig, then I had a gap that was too big to just take a lunch break but too small to go from there and work at the salon in between. So she as project manager the whole photography was cute and lent her office to me so I could work in the meantime, so nice :)

I have an office in the salon as well, but it's a dark room with a regular IKEA table in it. This felt like a "real" office with an office chair, desktop computer and post-it notes. Felt very professional in there haha.

I just had to choose one of the mugs with the company logo on as well, for an extra professional feeling as well;)

I too will be on a small part on their website when it's done, but my movies with the products + a quote about upsalite in makeup and a little "press picture". Cool!

Entrepreneurs & red days
As a self-employed person, you are one of the few people who are against red days, it bothers you, haha! We can be open if we want anyway, but it is usually quite quiet at the salon on red days anyway (do not know if people go away or if they just assume that we have closed without checking, you can think that it are on red days people have time to do treatments?) and then it is not worth paying extra salary if you do not earn it.

In addition, I know that as an employee, red days are very wonderful, so I turn my short-term economist-think that it is personnel care that is good in the long run, so it feels a little better;)

My own red day consisted of first leave spent in the garden with some chores, relaxing and mischief with my cat Viktoria, so wonderful! Then when the sun started to disappear, I worked in the makeup studio and in front of the computer in the afternoon and evening. Perfect with a job that is not always time-limited but you can control the days as you want. Love it!

Here I sit in a towel and put on make-up haha, finished at 8 pm and then I worked with the computer in bed :)

I also took product pictures and swatch pictures of our new lipsticks from glo Skin beauty that will be up in the webshop soon!

To be able to work in a computer
There are investments that feel huge when you open your wallet, but if you count ppa (price per use, which Tove Castor usually count on their clothes) so it is not so many kroner it is about. And my laptop really is such a gadget!

What if there were only desktops, what would my business look like then? My computer is with me everywhere, partly I take it back and forth to the salon every day, last Monday I had it with me on the freelance job at Disruptive Materials and on Tuesday I had it with me on my hairdresser's visit with Monica Werner at Color and the shape! :)

A visit to the hairdresser with balayage dyeing takes a few hours and these are hours that you can take advantage of when you still do not get anywhere :) Of course you may not be exactly as productive as when you sit completely screened in an office, but a lot can you get done at the same time as you become beautiful!

Miska tasks
Last Wednesday, Miska went fishing with a friend so I was allowed to survive without him, both emotionally and practically haha. At work, this means that I do a lot, much more reception work, ie answer the phone, receive customers, put anesthesia, make bookings, etc. And even though I have the computer and work with my own as well, it is not so much my own work as catch up because we have a full roll :)

It also means that I sent all the webshop packages! We have two other makeup artists who know it too, but none of them are here this week.

I basically never run the webshop anymore, I can't remember when I last packed a package. But I like it! So the webshop was my baby before when I only had it and the blog and it was just me who then handled the orders. So it gets a little nostalgic to be able to pack and weigh and stuff again, just cozy!

We always send handwritten greetings to customers and it makes me so warm in my heart every time I write these. I still feel "oh what a gullis who goes in and orders from us !!". It is of course great fun when people visit the salon / shop as well, but the webshop in particular has such motherly feelings around it so it's a bit different anyway haha ♥

Last Friday I did multitasking with a reception job and at the same time (among other things) prepared pictures of our new lipsticks from glo Skin Beauty which I am putting in the webshop! :)

By the way, I am by no means a person who works well with being alone, I need people around me who take focus and now the sister and children were also away so last Thursday I was completely alone all day and did not meet a single person. I immediately noticed how I became more sensitive and had a hard time letting go of things. At first I got kind of angry about a thing (private thing) that I saw on social media, which took a lot of my energy completely unnecessarily. Then when I took a break with the coffee cup in the sun I heard a song reminiscent of mom and so I sat there and was sad instead and felt super-pathetic hahaha! I who am otherwise quite good at shaking things off.

Never leave me alone again! ;) I'm like an anxious dog!

But now it's Sunday and Miska came home yesterday and the sister and the children come home from their sun holiday tomorrow, so then everything will be as usual again ♥

Have a nice Sunday everyone!

Summer make-up step by step

When I was at the NYX press event, I got a hair band with nice flowers in which inspired me to curl my hair, which inspired me to this summer make-up :)

Many would probably think "I have so fixed hair that I have to wear neutral makeup" but not me! :) I made a pretty natural "base" on the eye makeup with brown and beige but then I livened up the look with turquoise and yellow and added a matte dark pink lipstick! How nice!

I had time to do this make-up before my hairdresser visit that I wrote about yesterday, if you are wondering how I suddenly became so dark-haired;)

Colored face primer - glo Skin Beauty Tinted Primer SPF 30 (Light)
Concealer - Pixi Pat Away Concealing Base (1 Cream)
Foundation - gloMinerals Pressed Base foundation (Golden medium)
Contouring - Contouring Palette (2)
Glowy highlighter - Pixi Glow-Y-Powder (London Luster)
Powder - Paese Bamboo Silk Powder
Rouge - Blush (35)
Fixing Mist - Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist

Brynpenna - glo Skin Beauty Micro Brow Liner (Dark brown)

Lipstick - glo Suede Matte Crayon (Rumor)

Adding some colorful details like this is a great way to get color in a more "discreet" way. If you do not want a completely colorful eyelid, I think.

All tones in brown / beige / gold are from Paese Opal Eyeshadow Trio (Golden Brown) and all the colorful eye shadows are Paese Neo Eyeshadow.

  1. Eyeshadow primer, Pixi eye bright primer
Turquoise eye shadow at the bottom of the lower lash line
  2. Gold shadow at the bottom of the lower lash line and light shadow in the corner of the eye
  3. The same light shadow on the inside of the eyelid
  4. Dark brown shadow at the end of the eyelid and along the globe line
  5. Black eye shadow at the end of the eyelid, Paese Kashmir eyeshadow (602)
  6. Yellow eye shadow on the inside of the eyelid and over the turquoise in the outer corner of the eye
  7. White eye shadow in the corner of the eye and under the brownish black in the outer corner of the eye, Paese cashmere eyeshadow (601)
  8. Black eyeliner with wing, Kryolan Cake Liner (Black)
  9. Black mascara on all lashes, Magnetic lash mascara

Clear!

The curls are made with mini scissors HH Simonsen Mini Beach Waver (adlink).

Hope you were inspired!

Super-blondie again!

10

When I think about how people would describe me in terms of appearance, I always think "blonde" even though I have not been properly blonde in 4 years now actually. But I was always blonde before so it feels like me :)

But now I'm really blonde again! Feeling like my self again haha!

What do you think? :)

I did the hair at Monica's at the salon Color and the Shape in Uppsala! I have cut it very much too, so fresh! Monica has a booking stop now unfortunately so she only takes regulars.

Miska did not know that I would be so bright and had fallen asleep when I got home, so he was very shocked when he woke up next to a blonde in the morning haha.

Even though it feels very "I" to be blonde, it is actually quite unusual to get light around the whole face, I have not got used to it yet.

And without makeup I feel very colorless, I need my lipstick type so it feels :)

We saved my natural hair color at the bottom and it is balayage brushing so it is a very smooth transition and when it starts to grow out then it will still look nice, no such sharp growth stripe that you get if you completely bleach your hair. So nice that it will grow out in a nice way! :)

Monica said that it is best not to bleach the hair only down to the scalp because the heat from the skin makes the bleaching more effective there. So it can be lighter at the bottom and if you do it several times it can be an uneven blonde tone. Interesting, I've never thought of that before!

This is what it looks like from behind! I really like that it is deep up at the scalp and not completely bleached all the way up.

And do you want to know the sickest? I did a hair analysis the next day and the value was just as good in quality as before the bleaching! If you look at the decimals, it was a little drier but still so good that it is considered an optimal value.

Olaplex in bleaching is really something I recommend! For all hair, it is not good as a single treatment (in my opinion, if you have starting hair but need moisture, the hair can become hard, brittle and rough if you do an olaplex treatment) but together with bleaching, it works great.

Monica also said afterwards, how good the quality felt even though I sat with bleaching for so long. But I'm an exemplary hair customer too;) I take care of my packaging!

So happy! This hair and colorful lips, then you are good to go!

Hugs are ♥

Colorful cut crease tutorial

This make-up is an eye makeup that almost only looks brownish when you look straight ahead, and when you blink, lots of color appears on the eyelids!

Such make-up is so fun I think, both to do, to wear during the day and also fun to see others wear on their eyes - it's almost like you can not stop staring at the eyes because something "happens" every wink: )

Now, however, I realize that I pose so much in all the pictures and raise my eyebrows that the colors are visible even though I look straight ahead haha. But in reality with a relaxed forehead, the colors are completely below the cut crease line haha.

Hope you are inspired!

Colored face primer - glo Skin Beauty Tinted Primer SPF 30 (Light)
Concealer - Pixi Pat Away Concealing Base (1 Cream)
Contouring - Contouring Palette (2)
Glowy highlighter - Pixi Glow-Y-Powder (London Luster)
Powder - Paese Bamboo Silk Powder
Rouge - Blush (35)
Fixing Mist - Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist

Brynpenna - glo Skin Beauty Micro Brow Liner (Dark brown)

Lip pencil on the entire lips - glo Lip Pencil (Pronto)
Lip gloss over -
glo Lipgloss (Plumberry)

More color for the people! I was actually inspired by this color combo by a painting that Miska painted this week which is so nice !! I'm a little unsure but I think you should be able to see it here even though you are not friends with Miska on Facebook. Test! :)

All colorful eye shadows are from Paese Neo Eyeshadow

  1. Eyeshadow primer, Pixi eye bright primer
Purple eyeshadow on the inside of the eyelid
  2. Turquoise eye shadow almost at the far end of the eyelid
  3. Yellow eye shadow between the purple and the turquoise
  4. Blue eye shadow at the end of the eyelid
  5. Brown eyeshadow a little "sketched" along the globe line and at the end of the lash line and then faded in a cat eye shape, Paese cashmere eyeshadow (604)
  6. Brown eyeliner with wing Kryolan HD Cream Liner (Cocoa)
  7. Black eye shadow at the end of the eyelid and along the globe line for a sharper cut crease effect, Paese cashmere (602)
  8. Yellow eye shadow in the corner of the eye and turquoise under the eyeliner wing
  9. Brown and black eyeshadow smoky along the lower lash line
Purple eyeshadow on the inside of the eyelid
  10. Black mascara on all lashes, Magnetic Lash Mascara

Hugs are! ♥

Hair quality before bleaching

0

Totally sick that I have not been to the hairdresser in 1 year and 2 months now, I really feel it's time and I'm so happy I'm going to the hairdresser and bleaching balayage in 1 hour:

I just analyzed my own hair (read more about analysis with Hairology with us here) and has absolutely perfect hair quality! My hair has 5 in strength and 4 in stretch (elasticity) which are optimal values, both in the scalp and down where the bleaching remains. How cruel !? A little, a little weaker hair (but still perfectly ok) right down in the tops that have been bleached several times but they should still be cut off so it pays off :)

I would almost film the hair test and show you, the hair is pulled until it falls out and damn how far it stretched out before it gave way! Cool!

After bleaching, I will test the hair again and if the values look good, I will take the courage to me and book a permanent hair !!! The hair salon that is permanent with Hårologi-permanent in Uppsala was a little unsure if they dared to be permanent on as bleached hair (as I want) but that they of course test if I am aware that the curls can be bad.

So I thought I was bleaching now, caring for my hair super carefully with a "preparatory hair cure á la Helena" and when I then see how the hair feels, I have to decide if I dare. I'm not really that scared that the hair itself will be bad, but what I'm worried about is that I will have thrown the money in the lake if it does not turn out well. I kind of do not have the finances to scatter money around me on nothing: P

Speaking of hair quality, I must also add how sickly good Hairology has been for my hair! I have never before had thick hair in the tops, it always gets super thin and worn at the bottom. So there that I could barely put in the tassel down on the braid because it is like 10 hairs haha. But since I started with hairology, the tops have stayed full! And then it should be added that after the whole turquoise story, I have not been kind to the hair at all - with hard shampoos, many washes, various ascorbic acid cures and finally decolorization to get rid of the last green. And yet both my hair feels well-groomed and is well-groomed!

So happy now :) Shows you the result later and updates you on how my hair quality feels!

Hug ♥
