Burgundy smokey eye

The brown eye shadow in the palette glo Skin Beauty Shadow Quad (Rebel Angel) goes a bit in the burgundy direction and is crazy good looking!

In today's make - up I have used it for smoky eyes and then I mixed the peach golden shade from the same palette with Kryolan Cake Liner Sealer to make it a liquid eyeliner and the combo became so nice that I almost choked :)

Hope you like the look too! I wore it to a large, white knitted sweater at work and a carelessly set knot, became a very nice contrast.

Bassmink:
Face primer - Pixi Flawless & poreless primer
Concealer - Pixi Pat Away Concealer (2 Nude)
Foundation - gloMinerals pressed base foundation (Golden medium)
Powders for redness - gloMinerals Redness Relief Powder
Contouring & highlighter - Pixi Contour Creator
Rouge - Blush (35)
Fixing mist - Pixi makeup fixing mist
Net matting powder - Paese Bamboo Silk Powder

Brynpenna - Benecos Eyebrow designer (brunette)

Lip pencil - glo Skin Beauty Lip Liner (Wine)

I really have not used this eyeliner for the last time, another one will probably come with this shade as an eyeliner later :)

All eye shadows are from the palette glo Skin Beauty Shadow Quad (Rebel Angel) if nothing else is written in my step by step below:

  1. Eyeshadow primer, Pixi eye bright primer
Burgundy / brown eye shadow on the entire eyelid.
  2. Fade the eyeshadow in the globe line
  3. Mix the peach golden eye shadow with Kryolan Cake Liner Sealer and paint an eyeliner with wing.
  4. Apply the burgundy brown shadow sharply on the top and bottom of the eyeliner using a flat slanted brush.
  5. The same shadow on the underside of the eyes, put a little wider in the middle.
Light eye shadow in the corner of the eye and a little in the fading of the burgundy brown to make it softer.
  6. Black eye shadow at the end of the eyelid and at the bottom of the lower lash Paese Kashmir eyeshadow (602)
White, shimmery eye shadow in the corner of the eye, Paese opal eyeshadow trio (Ice queen)
  7. Black mascara on all lashes, Magnetic lash mascara

Clear!

Tip! When you make a light eyeliner, feel free to make a lashliner (mine is tattooed so I do not do it every day on myself, but you can see a tutorial on it in this post) and apply a little extra mascara. It is not a must, but you can easily feel that the eyes look a little tired with a light eyeliner when you are used to a dark, it kind of lowers the gaze a bit.

Hugs are!

Party make-up Uppsala before & after

I did this make-up on a customer at Creative Makeup who had booked a make-up consultation incl. products on New Year's Eve! :)

She was very happy with the make-up and booked eyebrow picking the following week, when I welcomed her at the checkout then she told me that the make-up had been very good all evening!

Here is the result:

BASE:
Face primer - glo Skin Beauty Illuminating primer
Foundation - Pixi H2O Skintint (2 Nude)
Contouring & highlighter - Pixi Book of beauty contour creator
Rouge - glo Skin Beauty Blush (Papaya)
Powder - gloMinerals Redness Relief Powder

EYEBROW:
Brynpenna - glo Skin Beauty Miro brow liner (Dark brown)

EYES:
Eyeshadow Primer - Pixi eye bright primer
Eyeshadows - Paese Opal Trio (Vanilla Chocolate)
Black eye shadow - Paese cashmere eyeshadow (602)
Light eyeliner along the waterline - gloMinerals Eye Pencil (Peach)
Eyeliner with wing– Kryolan HD Cream Liner (Ebony)
Mascara - Magnetic lash mascara

Then I dabbled in silver glitter from Kryolan (do not know the exact name as we poured into smaller jars at the salon so the shade name is gone) but it is attached with Kryolan Cake Liner Sealer. It glittered a lot in reality but it is a rather fine-grained glitter so it kind of disappeared completely in the pictures.

LIPS:
Lipstick -  gloMinerals Suede Matte Crayon (Monogram)

How nice!

Hope you were inspired!

Hug ♥

My business week v.1

The first week of the new year has gone really well, overall it has been a calmer week at the salon because 2 of the makeup artists are completely free and it is immediately noticeable in the number of customers in motion. But I personally have gotten a lot done and feel incredibly happy :)

Preparations for MEXICO woop woop!
Yep, yep, yep, me and Miska have booked a trip to Mexico for a full 2 weeks and are already leaving on January 13th! So next Sunday at this time we will probably sit and eat hotel breakfast in the sun;) Feels completely crazy, first time in over 3 years that we are free for more than a week!

But there are a lot of things we have to prepare before, as a self-employed person you have to work hard to be able to take a holiday haha. No, it should probably go well :)

  • Blog material must be prepared so that the blog is not empty for 2 weeks. There will be a lot of product reviews as I do not have time to do so many make-ups before, but there will be many make-ups too!
  • The campaign pictures for February need to be nailed down already now, then Malin does them, but it is still me who prepares which themes, pictures and texts are to be fixed.
  • Set a schedule structure so that the staff can handle the reception without having to stress. And review if anyone needs to work extra to make this work.
  • We have decided who will be responsible for ordering later, but have not taught all this yet, so we need to replenish the stock extra + teach for the brands that sell the most so that they can order themselves if something becomes urgent.

We will be a bit standby via email and even though we have a holiday, but as much as possible must work as we do not have wifi everywhere and also there is a 6 hour time difference so we need to help remotely with something so it can not be urgent matters because we will not be able to answer immediately :)

All Tuesday I worked from home in the makeup studio and prepared blog material for the trip. Here is the first make-up after we booked the trip, so inspired haha!

January 1 and lots of numbers
We worked on New Year's Eve and waited until Ämma finished with the last customer just to pull out the annual receipts and even before I ate breakfast the next day, it itched my fingers to enter the figures for 2017 in our statistics documents!

It's the kind of job that is fun because you get such insight, while it feels a little unnecessary for these numbers does not help me now, while it is very important to keep track of the statistics because once you need these numbers it is very simple to check out.

This is what our kitchen table looked like the first morning twig 2018 haha!

New metrics, strategic focus and diagrams
On Thursday we have our first hug meeting (staff meeting) for the year and in addition to preparations for the holiday, this is mostly what I sat with this week.

We have set a goal by June 31, 2018 and before that we have several intermediate goals. Between September-December we had the first sub-goal and on Thursday we will show the results of it and at the same time present the new sub-goal until 31 March and which parts we must focus on to get there.

Interim goals are the most important thing to achieve their goals. You can not just set a goal for a year ahead and then wait and hope that it will be so. First you have to divide it into several sub-goals and set a plan for how to reach the sub-goals - then you will finally reach the goal!

And to mix in some fun numbers like this at the beginning of the year, I will also show some interesting statistics in 2017 and compare with 2015 and 2016 to show how much we have increased since we opened this new salon :) In early 2015 Annika still had her little salon, and it was not until September 2015 that Miska and I came into the picture.

The make-up studio includes all treatments for lashes, eyebrows, makeup, manicures, etc. Everything that does not happen inside the treatment rooms can be said. Look at the curve! :) That there is a big difference from 2015 is not so strange because we did not have the current salon all year then, but that it increased so brutally between 2016 and 2017 is fantastic!

In order for you to understand how big the increase is even though you do not see the numbers, I can tell you that the amount we had throughout 2015 is almost exactly the same amount as we had in 2017 in December alone;)

"Think we built this up" I think all the time when there are customers in each make-up chair and several in the waiting room and the reception, the numbers are just a proof of what we experience but that is exactly what is magical for me - to see everyone satisfied customers who come again and again and thrive so well when they are cared for by us. The feeling is indescribable!

Between 2015 and 2017, we have more than DOUBLED sales for the entire salon. So everything in total with all treatments and product sales.

Then we have more than doubled the costs as well so the total profit was probably higher when Annika drove completely alone and had a very cheap rent haha, but it's really worth it. We would rather build a large living salon that goes plus or minus zero than sit alone and work ourselves to death and be rich :)

Saturday job and first backache customers
I rarely work Saturdays at the salon nowadays (before I worked 6-day weeks all the time) but last Saturday we had a customer who really wanted to come to me and can only on Saturdays and also Mia had her first working day with backbone customers so fit great!

I took pictures at my make-up consultation (you will see before and after shortly) and Mia scratched her back on a conveyor belt. We were there over an hour before opening to heat the room with heating elements, light candles and fix quiet music. Really atmospheric and relaxing! The first customer booked a new time again in 2 weeks so it was really successful :)

Satisfied Mia after her customers:

The week has thus included lots of jobs in my photo studio, lots of jobs with statistics, numbers and goals, and then as usual several customers in the salon and reception jobs. Good mix!

Normally, I would have been completely exhausted after a week like this with extra early mornings to keep up with everything and a lot of work from morning to night, but all stress is physical and it is not at all as demanding as inner, mental stress. So I'm pretty energetic actually and will continue to work from home this Sunday as well. When you know that you will soon be free as well, it is not as hard :)

Hugs are!

Review - NYX Your Element Metallics Eyebrush Set

Before Christmas, I got a press sample on a lot of Limited Edition products from NYX and since I'm not so quick on the ball to blog about everything, some have already sold out. Among other things, the wonderful kit Soft Matte Lip Cream Vault II with 36 mini lipsticks that I did not find anywhere else when I would blog about this the other day haha.

But a limited edition product that is not finished and that I put to the test and will review today is NYX Your Element Metallics Eyebrush Set (Adlink) for those of you who have considered clicking it home!

What is the NYX Your Element Metallics Eyebrush Set?
This is a kit with 5 eyeshadow brushes and a small golden toiletry bag.

As I said, it is a Limited edition product and costs SEK 349 on e.g. Eleven.se which is approximately SEK 70 per brush.

First impression
My first impression was a bit mixed when I immediately became curious about the two smallest brushes but at the same time skeptical of the two larger ones.

Material
The brushes are synthetic.

Quality and feeling
The shafts of the brushes feel luxurious and fine, but the fact that the bristles on the brushes feel more in the cheap direction. Especially the two larger brushes. Not disaster quality then, but they are not very soft brushes if you say so.

Design
It is a matter of taste what you want for the shape of the brushes, but here are close-ups and a more detailed description of each brush in the kit:

I really like the slanted flat brush! Sharp and flat and just the right size.

This brush is similar to one I used a lot before but which got so worn that I had to throw it away, so I had high hopes! I think this is nice to apply eye shadow with and since it is quite thick, you can also fade out sharp edges with it.

Very nice brush, but not as good as the one I had before so my high hopes make me feel worse about it than if I had tried it without expectations at all :)

This brush is not that special I have lots of these but use them frequently so this will come in handy as well. I mostly use this for concealer or for foundation around the lips, I like to apply the foundation around the mouth with a sharp brush so that the lip contour does not become so diffuse.

This brush is there to fade out the eyeshadow I guess but for my taste it is insanely too big and not soft enough. I like fading brushes that are a bit in the compact direction because it must be able to move pigment (one too fluffy does not make much difference) but it should still be soft I think, this one is a bit in the rough direction.

And for my eyes, the one that I said is crazy too big too, I would never be able to fade out a very sharp eye shadow with this because then you have zero precision.

This one is basically the same as the one above, but it has basically the same opinion as it.

However, these can work well for other uses even if the kit is brushes for eye makeup! I choose softer brushes over these but these two will surely be used for powder and highlighter on smaller areas of the face.

Most happy I was probably over the toilet haha!

No super luxurious quality on it either but very cute, I love toiletries and have several whites with gold details on so this one fits so perfectly into the collection :)

Summary - I like the small brushes more, I can do without the big ones. 70: - per brush is a good price but 349: - for this kit overall I would not say is worth the money. Better to buy fewer but better brushes. The kit exudes a bit of party and luxury with gold and metal but is a bit too poor quality to feel luxurious when you use them.

Actually, I would like to give the grade 2.5 but have not made a picture with half lips haha. The kit is not bad at all but quite far from good as well.

Any of you who tested the kit? :)

Soft make-up in purple & gold

Today's look is a soft make-up in purple & gold :)

When I woke up this morning, my eyelids had swollen and looked like small asymmetrical sausages haha!

It is not so much visible in the pictures but I therefore did a soft make-up without any sharp lines. The reason is that sharp lines emphasize asymmetry, which I want to avoid. In addition, the swelling will go down during the day, so I would make up symmetrically in the morning, maybe it looks crazy when the swelling subsides.

But it turned out fine anyway! A fairly quick make-up color shifts in purple and gold. It looked good on the eyelids because I skipped eyeliner completely :)
