Eyeliner, Red lips & Messy hair

Today's look is a classic eyeliner with wing (a glossy black, wide one, yummy!) And red, matte lips. It is a make-up that, depending on the outfit, can feel everything from gala to party party and super sexy.

I myself rock it into a knitted cardigan and tousled hair on a weekday, also a very nice combo! I like contrasts :)

And the lipstick is painted about a mile outside my real lips haha, even outside my lip tattoo. Love it!

I love shiny eyeliners, it's so nice!

stepbystepp

The eyeliner I have used is Paese Liquid Eyeliner.

  1. Paint a line along the top lash line as wide as you want the eyeliner
  2. Fill in down to the lashes and paint the lower edge of the eyeliner wing as a line from the outer corner of the eye and outwards at the desired angle and length.
  3. Fill in the eyeliner wing
  4. White eye shadow in the corner of the eye, Paese Kashmir Eyeshadow (601)
Black mascara on the upper lashes, Magnetic lash mascara

Make up for colds

I always get a little happy when I get different "ailments" such as a lot of pimples, a wrinkle, a bruise or the like that I can use to show different makeup tips. Right now I have an incredible cold, it started already last Thursday and soon I have been snotty for a whole week!

Then the experimentation began, how do you make up a cold mustache nose in the best way? What holds best and what is least visible when it has been rubbed off a bit? Ideally, you just want to lie under a blanket and cure yourself, but that is not always the reality.

img_4504_111

img_4376_11

This post you may misinterpret or what you say, I still have no tip on a base that is completely rub-proof and makes the nose withstand as many sobs and napkin rubs as possible without being the least bit affected. But there are degrees in hell and here are my top tips!

img_4370_111

Moisturize
When you sneeze, the nose becomes extremely dry, it is almost impossible to get away because it becomes like an abrasion. Do not forget to start moisturizing as soon as you catch a cold, because even if you are not dry yet, you will be very soon.

Before I put on make-up, I usually use eye cream, dab on and let it sit as a layer for about 2 minutes before you start to put on make-up, wipe with a top. Why I choose eye cream is because it is so thin in the formula that it sinks in quickly and is not sticky when you put on make-up, even though you have just had a thick layer. My eye cream and many others are also soothing, which is great for the irritated skin on the nose.

In the evening I use oil, it is so gentle and nice to the skin and also sinks in quickly even if you have peeled skin / elephant skin around the nose. Feel free to cuddle the skin in an oily and / or soothing face mask as well.

img_4393_111

The eye cream I use is Sanctum Eye Balm.

A thin and light foundation that sinks into the skin
The first make-up tip is a foundation that sinks into the skin and is very dry and light in the formula, because a foundation that lies like a creamy blanket over the skin will slide off immediately no matter how gently you cheat. The best is a gel foundation I think, it sinks into the skin very well and the one I use from Pixi is also water resistant!

img_4404_111

I use the foundation gel Pixi H2O Skintint in shade 2 Nude.

Skip face primer around the nose
I also skip face primer, because a face primer fills in pores and irregularities and makes the skin smoother and a better work surface to apply makeup on. But it rarely makes the make-up more rub-proof, rather use as little make-up as possible to make the foundation sink into the skin really well. But you can of course have the face primer in the rest of the face.

Neutralize redness
When the nose turns red, it shines through very extremely, this is because red is such an intense color that easily shines through even if you have a full-coverage base. Especially if you have a lighter foundation that I recommended above. Then I apply a neutralizing powder, gloMinerals Redness Relief Powder, to reduce redness.

img_4425_111

gloMinerals Redness Relief Powder is incredibly effective in removing redness! Now it also has a new jar with strainer and more content - for the same price.

Do not use colors that highlight red around the nose
I always have a pretty red nose with a lot of blood vessels and if I apply foundation all over my face and finish with my nose, I always look like Rudolf with red clouds before I put on my nose as well. When everything around is an even skin tone in a semi-warm color, the red nose is emphasized even more. And the same, of course, applies if you have turned around a few times and the scarlet nose begins to glow in the middle of the face.

  • Preferably use cool colors on the face and skip warm bronzers and gold tones.
  • Preferably do not use eye makeup in yellow or green
  • Yellow on top of red (on the nose) removes the red, but yellow next to red highlights the red. So do not use gloMinerals Redness Relief Powder on a large area outside the nose but only where you are red.
  • If you have a cold, pink blush, feel free to use quite a lot of it, so that the contrast to the red nose is not as great.

Improve
You will need to improve during the day if you cheat often! The best thing is to bring a face mist, mineral foundation and redness relief powder in your handbag. Dab on mineral foundation quickly when you have sniffed, and when it feels very red and irritated, you also take some redness relief powder and finish by moisturizing with a spray of moisturizing face mist.

img_4451_111

Sanctum Tone & Refresh Mist is great for spraying on moisture during the day.

More alert eyes
I would like to write "focus on eyes and lips so no one will see your nose" but is at the same time realistic, when you do not feel completely 100 you rarely manage to do a cool party make-up in the morning. My 2 best tips are:

  • Light eyeliner along the waterline - Makes the eyes brighter and removes the red-eyed feeling that you easily get when you have a cold.
  • Focus on the top of the eyes, e.g. mascara and eyeliner on just the top. It lifts the eye and makes you look more alert. At the same time, you do not have to think about the make-up on the underside if the eyes run and have themselves.

img_4527_111

gloMinerals and Benecos has bright eyeliner pens that are really good!

Lips
Feel free to choose a cool tone on the lips that does not go towards yellow or green, red tones work great because red does not emphasize red. But above all - use moisturizing lip makeup! A lipstick with natural oils, a colored lip balm or similar. When you can not breathe with your nose, you often become very dry in the mouth and on the lips.

img_4464_111

Other
Soft paper to sniff in, nasal spray and to cut the nose hairs are the kind of salvation to stay as good-looking and fresh as possible.

Summary - Use a thin foundation that sinks into the skin. Neutralize the red with powder. Feel free to avoid warm tones and green in the rest of the makeup as it highlights red. Moisturize properly both before but also after with face mist. This makes it look less dry. For quick and easy improvement during the day, use mineral foundation that is easy to dab on.

And do not forget hand alcohol to reduce the risk of infecting others! :)

What do you think? :)

I updated quite a bit this weekend and that's because we have started to renovate our home a little bit. Or little by little, we start with two rooms so that I get a study / product room and a bedroom that we enjoy. Me and Miska have moved into my mother's room and that's exactly how it feels all the time, that we sleep in my mother room, in mom's bed, which means I can not really relax in there. But with sanded and nice wooden floor, white paint on walls and closets and then our own bed, then it will probably feel much better!

Follow me on insta story (@ imakeyousmile.se) to see film clips from our renovation. This weekend I showed how we tore off blue wallpaper and right now we are sanding floors :)

Light pencil along the waterline

Hi Helena! I want to tattoo light inliner along the waterline, look at many of your makeup (and even when you are unmade) that it looks sooo nice! I will do it closer to the summer, but before that I thought I would buy a light eyeliner pen to paint with for so long, it makes a big difference even if you are unmade. What is the difference Benecos Natural White Kajal and gloMinerals Eye Pencil Peach? See that you use both of them for different make-up. The price also differs a bit, is it the price / quality that only differs or is it something else that also differs? Hug!"

It is not the quality or the price that is the biggest difference, but the nuances and a little bit of the formula. I have photographed both to show and can describe the difference in more detail :)

img_4507_111

Formula
Benecos is a little creamier in texture while gloMinerals is more waxy. Both are pigment-rich and easy to apply.

sustainability
Both hold equally well! It is important to have a creamy pencil because dry absorbs moisture, so if you have a dry pencil along the waterline, it absorbs more and more moisture all the time and eventually releases it. But if the pen is already creamy, it "melts in" into the moist environment by the eye and is kept in place.

img_4520_111

Shade
The biggest difference is the shades, which is why I use the different pencils for different make-up. gloMinerals Peach shade is more beige while Benecos is more off-white.

gloMinerals is thus better for a milder and more discreet result, if you want a light and non-red waterline to look fitter.

Benecos are better if you want a lot of effect and bigger eyes. It is still off-white and not chalk white so it still becomes natural.

Content
Beneco's pencil is organic and contains caring oils such as jojoba oil, meadowfoam oil, mango oil, macadamia oil and vitamin E. That's why it's a little creamier in the formula as well. gloMinerals also contains vitamin E and oils but above all waxes and minerals.

Award
It also differs by a 100 note in price, Benecos costs SEK 99 and gloMinerals costs SEK 199.

img_4527_111

Other uses
I love, love, love to use a light eyeliner for the face to emphasize different features, for example around the mouth and under the eyebrows. Then I think that gloMinerals is much easier to use. It blends in well on light skin and you can easily paint on and fade with your fingertip or a brush and it fits well all day. You can also use it in wrinkles to make them look less bright and as a concealer pen on blemishes.

Benecos is both creamier and lighter, which on my skin makes it a little harder to get it naturally, but I have customers who think it works great for that as well.

Hope you and the rest of you feel that you have a little more clarity :) You will find more eyeliner & eyeliner pencils HERE.

Hug!

Helena tests - NYX Lingerie

NYX has a makeup series called Lingerie that contains matte liquid lipsticks and creamy eye shadows. I got them in a goodie bag a while ago and it has itched my fingers ever since! In today's makeup I have tested both of these in a down to earth look and thought to show it and at the same time give a first-use review :)

img_4312_111

Face primer - Paese Makeup Base (Matte)
Foundation - gloMinerals Pressed Base (Golden Medium)
Powder that neutralizes redness - gloMinerals Redness Relief Powder
Contouring - Pixi Book of Beauty Contour Creator
Rouge - gloMinerals Blush (Papaya)
Fixing mist - Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist
Dehydrating powders - Paese Bamboo Silk Powder

Eyebrows - gloMinerals Precision Brow Pencil (Brunette)

img_4321

NYX Lingerie Liquid Lipstick:

Application - If you apply a thin layer, it is very nice on the lips, but with this shade, I think that more applications are needed to get a comprehensive result. At least on me who has such colorful lips even unmade up that shines through. Dries fairly quickly and then you can easily apply another layer.

Feeling - With more layers, the feeling is quite dry, not as terribly-dry as the Full Throttle lipsticks from NYX that I can not wear on the lips, but quite dry just like most matte liquid lipsticks. I personally prefer softer matte lipstick, but this works without problems anyway, but I recommend a little lip balm underneath.

Color - I have the shade Embellishment and I LOVE it! So good looking! Perfect gray-pink beige (or what do you say?). Super nice!

Sustainability - Holds incredibly well on the outer lips, but on the inside it becomes dry and itchy after about 3 hours, which either disappears when you eat or looks snuff dry. Then you have to take a piece of paper and remove a little and improve again. And it goes well as long as you are aware of it :)

NYX Member Lingerie Eye Shadow:

Application - There is quite a lot of cream on the applicator immediately so I recommend scraping off a bit on the edge before applying directly on the eyelid, but it went well anyway. Wait to fade until it has started to dry, which it does quite quickly, then it is easy to get a soft fade. I do this with a separate soft brush.

Feeling - Immediately when I apply it, it feels wet and quite strong on the eyelid, can be good to know for you with more sensitive skin on the eyelids. It sniffed a little towards the eye when you had it on the lower lash line as well, but not very much.

Color - I have the shade Night Glow which looks a little darker in the sleeve than it gets on the skin, but it is a really nice mink brown color that becomes metallic / shimmery on the eyelid. It becomes most metallic where applied without fading, but in fading it becomes duller. In my close-ups, the fading even looks darker, but it is not in reality it is only the light that is reflected so in the picture :)

Sustainability - I tested without eye shadow primer in this make-up to test the durability, some cream eye shadows sit so well that it becomes like eye shadow and primer in the same. At the end of the day, however, it had slipped away in the globe line so I recommend eye shadow primer below (have not tested with it yet).

The cheapest are both at Kicks where the lipsticks cost SEK 89 and the eye shadows SEK 79.

The eyes were incredibly fast to make! Did not have much time but still had time to do this eye makeup.
