Powder - My 5 best tips (+ Results & Use)

What powder should I have? Why use powder? How to apply powder and which powder is best? Here you get everything about face powder incl. results! :)

I'm a real nerd in this! :) It is not a must-have product for everyone but I use it on almost all my customers.

What powder should I have

1. Powder gives better durability!

On all skin types: Powder fixes cream products such as foundation and concealer, which makes the makeup last longer. A setting powder quite simply. If you have a cream product that does not "set" automatically but continues to be creamy on the skin, it can settle in lines and wrinkles during the day, very common under the eyes e.g. It can also drop from the rest of the face, if you e.g. accesses by hand or has a jacket collar or scarf that accesses. But a powder makes the cream products sit in place!

For combination / oily skin: To make the makeup last despite sebum production in the skin. Otherwise, the oil and make-up mix with each other and become like a greasy gag that either releases or slides around and can settle on the skin.

2. Gives a finer end result!

Reduced shine for mixed / oily skin: The end result does not have to be completely dull just because you use powder, but the powder helps the skin to stay oil-free longer, which reduces the shine in e.g. T-zones. You get a "clean glow" rather is a greasy mess on the skin.

For a matte finish: As I said, the end result does not have to be dull, but powder is the easiest way if you want a matte finish! Even on dry skin, then you can use very moisturizing products before and still get the matte end result you want.

Which powder is best

Directly after foundation. Without powder on the left side and with on the right side.

Smoother results: Fine-grained powders give a blurring effect on the skin as they settle into irregularities such as pores and wrinkles. Do you have e.g. a very shiny concealer for dry skin under the eyes, the shine can emphasize the lines, a thin layer of fine-grained powder then gives a blurring effect without making the skin look so dry powdery. Also worth gold on large pores.

An example where you see how the pores are more clearly visible before powder.

3. How to apply powder?

I prefer a brush that is soft without being for fluffy / airy. Soft and semi-compact I would say! Then the size is entirely a matter of taste.

A more compact brush gives a finer application as the powder is buffered into the skin instead of just laying on the surface. If you have a scattered, rough and airy brush (I shudder with discomfort hahaha) then there is a greater risk that the powder just ends up on the surface, which gives a more powdery look rather than that velvet feeling you are looking for.

Extra important if you use powder because you have a lot of sebum production in the skin, because the more you apply the more effective it is on the oiliness. With a soft and compact brush, you can apply a larger amount of powder but still get a great finish!

powder brushes

In this picture you see Nanshy Powder Brush which is really great! I love too Nanshy Buffed Base if I am going to buffer on a lot of powder, it is smaller and even more compact.

4. Which powder is best?

Our best-selling powders are loose powders from Paese and a very common question is what is the difference between these two and which one to choose?

Paese Bamboo Silk Powder is the product we sell most of all in the entire webshop because we have so many regular customers who use it. 26 reviews with 5/5 stars on average! What is so unique about this powder? The debilitating effect !! Of all the powders on the market that I have tested, this is the most absorbent.

Paese Rice Powder has a thinner and softer formula and is more suitable as a fixing setting powder. If you compare Rice Powder with Bamboo Powder, you feel that the bamboo powder is drier while the rice powder is softer.

What powder should I have

In short, I recommend Paese Bamboo Silk Powder if you have sebum production in the skin, while Paese Rice Powder is for you with dry-normal skin type who want a setting powder and / or just a matte finish.

5. End result with setting powder & glow

Many people are afraid of powder because they think that the skin should look dry and powdery, but with the right application technique you will not get it! The skin becomes more silky / velvety matte.

In addition, as I said, regardless of skin type / skin condition, you can get an end result with glow and luster even though you have used powder. For example. by spraying a face mist and / or swiping on a glow highlighter :)

brush for loose powder

Here you see a basic makeup that was completely matte after the powder step, but after the mist Pixi Glow Mist as well as the highlighter Pixi Glow-Y-Powder so the skin has lots of glow! :)

In other words: Exactly the same primer, concealer and foundation can either look completely matte or full of luster when you are done, what makes the difference is which products you use afterwards!

Make up for summer! (Quick tips)

How to think about putting on make-up in the summer?

Spring is really nothing to trust, here I am sitting and writing a post about putting on make-up for the spring sun and then I wake up to several cm of SNOW haha!

Well, in other parts of Sweden (?) And in a few days this post will be just as relevant again :)

I suspect that it's not just me who does not feel as naturally nice spring as you want to be now in May. You want to feel so summery and fresh when you pick out the spring clothes, but instead I am winter pale, dull and colorless!

My best trick for putting on make-up in the summer? Look here:

make up summery

Do you know what is actually good about the spring weather ?? You still have so much clothing on your body that it is enough to fake in the face and down on the cleavage, as no one sees the naked truth on arms and legs;)

  • I use a colored primer in a darker color than my skin tone, because it gives weak coverage, so it still looks natural.
  • Then I dabble in a little fake freckles (does not have to be many, I only have it on pimples + a few more)
  • A summery lip color in coral, peach or apricot!
  • Then quickly apply with an eyeshadow on the eyelid (enough to sweep a little wide on the French edge only) and you get a little alert and lively eyes also.

When my regular customers at the salon say "oh, you have had time to get color in the spring sun !!" so I feel like the worst cheater, hahaha.

Reduce redness on the face (Product tips)

Lately I have received a lot of response when I posted info about Redness Relief Powder and realize that there are very many out there who just like me have a lot of redness in the skin and want to reduce redness in the face. :)

Therefore, here comes another tip - primer that neutralizes redness!

paese primer Reduce redness on the face

Paese Makeup Base are face primers available for the different skin types / skin conditions:

  • Mattifying for oily skin (also works for combination skin if you are both dry and oily)
  • Smoothing for dry skin
  • Correcting that reduces redness in the skin

And it's the latter, Correcting, that I'll show you today! :)

How does Paese Makeup Base - Correcting work?

The primer contains a green-tinted glow which reduces redness in the skin in a very discreet way. Can be used alone on the skin or under foundation.

Some other green primers are all green and then you can get a slightly dull skin tone, so you kind of have to have foundation left over to look "healthy" in the skin. But this is more discreet as I said so it also works alone on the skin if you want to reduce the redness a little but still be unmade.

Reduce redness on the face

Here I have smeared a fairly thick layer of primer on the back of the hand so that you can see the green light-reflecting pigment clearly. A thin layer does not have that much shimmer.

Why green tinted primer?

With a green-toned primer under the make-up, you can apply a less opaque foundation and still get an even skin tone. Many have very even skin tone in general (if you ignore the redness) and really want a lighter and more natural coverage, with a green-toned primer you can get it!

Red is such an intense color, so if you are going to make it off with just foundation, you need a lot of coverage - and yet it can shine through during the day. It is much easier and more efficient to work with color correcting products.

I recommend putting thin layers of more products instead of much of one.

If you e.g. apply this green tinted primer, a light opaque foundation, a little concealer only where you think it is needed (some pimple, pigment stain or similar) and then a powder that neutralizes redness as well. Then you get a very light and natural coverage in most of the face while you conjure away all the irregularities! These thin and fine layers will also last all day without any problems.

Compared to if you just lay a very thick layer of a more opaque foundation. Thick layers of makeup often hold up poorly, can look cakey and uneven and if it drops a little during the day, the redness will shine through anyway.

Thin layers + color-correcting products provide better durability, more effective reduction of redness and a natural result at the same time! :)

Reduce redness on the face before and after

Here you see the result of the primer! It is as you see very discreet but still clear difference, the skin looks almost only lighter and it is because redness becomes darker than the skin tone so when you neutralize it away the skin gets its right color like the rest of the face :)

You can click home for the primer here! And if you want to supplement with a color-correcting powder as well, I can really recommend glo Skin Beauty Redness Relief Powder which is yellowed. As a last step in make-up, you do not want to put on green, but yellow and green are very close to each other in the color circle, so yellow is also effective on redness.

I hope this tip helps you reduce redness on your face!

Hugs are! ♥

Wider eyebrows with brow lift + serum

Many people are looking for wider eyebrows and are wondering what to do.

"Eyebrow rehabilitation" is a common expression if you have plucked your eyebrows too much or in a different shape than you want. So that the eyebrows must have time to grow out in certain areas.

I feel a bit like the shoemaker's child when I publish the model on my eyebrows now, haha! But before the browlift treatment came about, I cut my brow hairs so extremely much because they grow straight down, so I who want a pretty high shape on the eyebrows had to cut the hairs very much to get that arch.

Brynserum was also no use for me, because the straws still grow so much downwards. The eyebrows might have been a little fuller, but above all it had only resulted in me having to cut more often.

Then came the sweet relief of brow lift! And the opportunity to get wider eyebrows without a tattoo!

I have now used eyebrow serum, not cut my eyebrows at all and then done brow lift. I HAVE NEVER been so happy with my eyebrows! So heavenly happy! :)

Here you see how much wider eyebrows I have after brow lift:

Wider eyebrows with brow lift

No but it's unbelievable :)

The serum I have used is Beautylash Lash & Brow Booster. But I have also tested RapidLash Eyebrow Enhancing Serum (adlink) and actually think it's even better!

Highly recommend the eyelash variant as well - RapidLash Eyelash Enhancing Serum (adlink) which gave me completely crazy long eyelashes!

Wider eyebrows

I woke up like this! Waaah! A little lash color on it so I am completely flawless;) The eyelashes are long, but almost invisible when they are uncolored because they point straight ahead.
