Effective meetings - talk less about problems

As you know, I'm a sidekick in Tommy's podcast. ”Really effective“Where we talk partly about entrepreneurship and leadership / leadership but also in general about how to become more efficient as a person. In this section, we go through effective meetings.

Tommy drives Peragenda which helps companies with just implementation power - become more efficient and work towards their goals.

Now we have released a new episode! :)

Listen to the episode:

You can listen directly here in the blog or search on "Really effective”Where podcasts are available. The podcast is available on Acast, Podcasts and all the most common places, but not on Spotify.

I have also made a slightly summarized post on the subject below, so you can choose to listen, read or both :) The post is not the same as the podcast so both are rewarding I would think!

Talk about problems is good - to a certain extent

We're really great at talking about problems. We highlight the problems, discuss, twist and turn. The problem is that we do it over and over again. Meeting after meeting without any effective meetings. If same problem!

Why? Probably (subconsciously) because it's quite comfortable. Everyone knows about the problems but no one knows which solutions are best. It's more convenient to say 'all employees will kick back"Or"customers will not like it"Or"but how are we going to make it, it will take a very long time”.

Effects: The result is often "yeah we can not get hold of it now it has to wait until the fall”And then you postpone, postpone and postpone. Then one wonders "why did we not reach our goal this year either?".

What to do then?

  1. We need to talk about problems, but not for long. In the end, we have to stop and ask. ”how can we solve it?
  2. Have short regular meetings and make a joint to-do list.
  3. Do one piece at a time! The problem often feels too big to tackle, but if you break it down step by step "what can you do for the next meeting in 2 weeks?" over time, the whole big problem will be solved slowly and methodically.
  4. Involve the staff too! Use the local expertise as Tommy usually says :) Teamwork and the fact that everyone is involved contributes so much!
  5. Follow up! Next meeting (or before) it is important to follow up so that all items on the list are checked.

Beware of the how-box!

When you go from problem to action, you often get quite pissed, things happen! Solutions are discussed and then consequential questions and circumstances often arise which are discussed further indefinitely.

Then you sit there in the middle of the precious meeting while one person sits and emails and another sits and googles. You simply waste time from the meeting.

Write down all that stuff directly on the action plan instead! Write “Helena should contact xxx and ask blablabla"And"Miska should check out what is really the difference between that brand and the other brand”.

I often interrupt the meeting as soon as we talk too much about exactly how we will solve things and say "now we've been in the how-box for too long. How do we formulate it into a point on the action plan?”.

Example:

The problem: We take too few before and after pictures and the ones we take have poor light, which results in poorer marketing. Followed by a lot of chatter about why it is so: You do not have time, you forget, you feel awkward with customers, we have bad light, the camera is difficult to understand, etc.

Beware of the how-box: Helena suddenly has a lecture about how she takes photos, explains how the camera works, about angles, light and ideas on how everyone can send pictures to her. There is talk of dropbox, watermarks, instagram format and whether customers should close their eyes or not when taking eyebrows.

A more efficient way: Before you end up in the how-box, you should pause and say "what points can we write on the action plan? And list points on what everyone can do and who who will do it:

  1. Book 5 minutes with each person where Helena shows how the camera works.
  2. Find a way to improve the photo light at each treatment site. Reorient lamps? Buy lamps? Test photograph what works best.
  3. Put up a remember note ”take a role model”On his work plate.
  4. Make a smooth routine for photo management (send - cut together - publication) that everyone should follow.

Suddenly we have sorted everyone's thoughts, made them clear to-do points that we know will be made because we will follow it up to the next meeting! :)

Colorful make-up that you easily feel comfortable in

I was so happy the other day when I got a picture of my sister who posted “jag drives a Helena and brightens up the pandemic with a colorful make-up!”And then she had made herself up so nicely with blue eyeliner and pink lips.

To liven up life with little things, I think makes a bigger difference than you can imagine! You might think it's just a surface - but we all know that it does much more than that;)

For me, make-up therapy is also, that is, the make-up itself and not necessarily the result. But it does not feel like you need to be a researcher to comment that the majority of us are happier to see color and glitter? ♥

Today's make-up, which you will now see step by step and can check out all the products in my web shop if you get the urge for something, it is so colorful that you can easily feel comfortable in it even though it is colorful. In addition, I chose the color purple as it is also a color that is easy to wear!

Tip! I have added a brown shade in the fade + a little black in the outer edges. It is a good trick to more easily thrive in strong colors if you are above it.

It tones down the make-up a bit and also makes it easier technically, because it is easier to get a brown color to blend into the skin tone in a soft tone, than a strong color.

Sunday post March 22

Everybody says "I'm so tired of corona"And"can we please we talk about something other than coronaAnd the same people (I'm also one of them) still only talk about corona haha. Because let's face it - it's kind of the only thing we all think about :)

How sick is it that something you do not see can affect you so much? I have not met a single corona-infected person and I do not know anyone, not even an acquaintance I know of has received it. Closer than a customer whose colleague (she did not meet after that) got it in Italy.

But at the same time, the effects of this, which is so far from me, are so extremely close! It affects both my personal finances and my entire company extremely much. At the same time it is an incredibly nice spring and sunny Sunday today, the hens are running around in the garden and soon our mutual friend Joel will come here and do the first barbecue of the year! MYS!

You kind of notice nothing at all on some levels, while on other levels it is crisis planning deluxe.

In other words, this post is incredibly corona-related as it affected my work week so extremely much! If you can not hear more about it, you can scroll on to all beauty posts, they are completely anxiety-free! :) ♥

Weekly start

This Monday morning I told Miska "is it no wonder we have so many bookings anyway? Wondering how much we would have had without the corona”.

Cut to an hour later: The salon opens and the cancellations fall in. Olga suddenly had only 2 customers that day and Zahra's Tuesday suddenly became completely empty of bookings.

Iiiih!

But I have at least had a Skype meeting with producers in Europe and they continue to start projects - even in Italy where it is at its worst right now. So it brings hope!

Crisis buffer in the company

I have seen several posts on social media that "private individuals must have 3 months' monthly salary saved for unexpected events, but companies perish after half a week" Lol. It's funny because it's true.

As an entrepreneur myself, I can say that this is the first and last time I start a company with services. Our products can remain on the warehouse shelves until the crisis blows over, but every lost hour that we have staff without customers in the make-up chair is money in the lake. We will never get that time back.

I was asked this week "how critical is it in the account?" and the answer is actually as simple as - the cancellations started last Monday, so no we have not seen a huge difference in the account than.

But next week the salaries go and two weeks after that the tax goes. Two things that are so HEAVENLY expensive! It is almost impossible to run a salon with several employees and at the same time save such a large buffer, because it is an industry with great competition so we can not have higher prices because then we do not get any customers. We have decent salaries with decent conditions, and after VAT, employer contributions, holiday pay, occupational pension, insurance and the salary that the employee receives in the account, there is not a huge amount of kronor left for the company.

It is enough kroner to be a good business if the staff is good with bookings, but every unbooked hour in the schedule has the same salary cost as a booked hour. So if the cancellations continue at the pace it did this week, it is not much required before we do not have money so it is enough anymore!

With that said, of course we have a buffer saving as well! We think it is important to have a secure company. But that buffer goes to "ordinary" unexpected (and expected) events, e.g. sick and wobbly staff, that we have just come out of a low season, that the cash register is old and sounds bad and will break at any time, etc., etc.

Corona could not come at a worse time for us as we have exactly these problems at the same time. Our buffer has already been used up! And Miska and I have already sacrificed our salaries for quite some time now to control all the non-corona-related events so we can not charge less than 0: - now that there is a crisis.

I ran into the salon and visited Ida who worked last Saturday, then she was fully booked in almost 15 minutes so it was nice anyway! Every penny now counts ♥

How do I feel?

I feel good, I have already had 4.5 years of training with financial crisis and that everyone else's salaries, well-being and life puzzles and leisure planning go before my own. Without it in the backpack, I would have felt shit now, I think, but it's not that stressful actually.

I am also not afraid of getting sick myself, because I have also had almost 2 years of practice of it haha. I'm a fever expert! Come to me tips :)

It's kind of shitty that it's a crisis I can not control, because it's so heavenly uncertain. Is this the girl, or is it just the beginning? But at the same time, it's nice that the crisis is so unexpected and 0% because of me. I do not need to have a bad conscience that it is due to a decision that did not go well and there are no bad feelings between anyone, but everyone knows that it is a unique situation for everyone right now and we just have to stick together and do good we can all!

With that said, I should not hide under the chair that I have some stress symptoms. It feels like there are two groups in society today: some who are at home in quarantine and need "craft tips" because they are bored. While some others (the group I belong to) suddenly get a new pile of things to do and solve on top of the big pile of stuff you had before - which has not disappeared at all now just because it is a crisis. Pjuh!

I bite the inside of my lips and I have a hard time focusing if I do not take more breaks than normal, but I sleep well and I still have the mood up and laugh a lot. So you can see it as a win! :)

Then at certain moments I get a feeling that I will lose it soon and find it a little difficult to breathe, but then it's just thinking of something else fast like attan and it goes over haha.

Makeup is my therapy as well, both to do it and then to walk around like a glittering color click that spreads joy :) Therefore, I was (for the sake of the unusual nowadays) both glittery and colorful at the salon this week!

I had customers myself last Thursday (only one of mine canceled) and they felt calm despite everything, nice!

What annoys me the most

I am currently working very focused on building a career where I can work 100% remotely. You all know how I want a house in the mountains of Spain where I can work with my companies via the computer, in my colorful caftan and eat grapes that grow above me and hang down in beautiful clusters from the terrace fence.

  1. I sometimes get a slap in the face that I have prioritized wrong, what if I had had this distance plan as a goal a little faster then I would have now spent this crisis at home in my own paradise! And not noticed any difference but just went and shopped and then been so grateful for where I am.
  2. I get even more panicked when I think "this is just the beginning" and am afraid that that dream will now never come true at all instead. My savings will disappear in shares and none of my new projects will be able to be started up because society has collapsed.

But that must not be the case! My and Miska's plan now is to buy a cheap house in Sweden, renovate it and live nice here for a while while we build a safer distance career, then when we sell the house (with a big profit) we buy the dream house in Spain! ♥

Then Corona can come back as best he wants, haha!

Speaking of distance jobs, the webshop is rolling on as usual anyway! If you want to enrich your life with some wonderful products, you can shop in my web shop Creativemakeup.se :)

What do we do then?

We prefer not to short-term leave the staff because there is still some parental leave, etc. planned and as it looks now, we still have bookings as well, it is not completely empty. So we follow the development and wait a while longer.

But things can change quickly! If the schools close, etc., it will probably be a paid holiday for 2 of the makeup artists (and hope that the account is enough for that) with the hope that it will be better for the summer instead and then the makeup artists will work more then instead. If their children are free, you can actually have a nice holiday now too, it's nice in the spring and you can still be out in nature, play in the woods and stuff :)

And I myself am used to working from home so there will be no difference! For example. I published my and Tommy's latest podcast of the week! Available now on e.g. Acast and Podcasts if you search for the podcast ”Really effective”. Will write a post about it soon too! :)

No, now I'm going out in the spring sun here in the country, hanging out in the garden with 1-year-old Mileya and our nice chickens and eating good vegetarian barbecue food!

And recharge for a new week that will most likely offer a lot of new challenges;)

A thousand, a thousand hugs to you! ♥

All about Brow Lift! - (Brow Lamination / Browlift)

Brow lift or brow lamination is the new trend in 2020! It is so new that we are surprised by all the questions such as "what is browlift?" "How long does browlift last?" "How to do a browlift?" "Can you do a browlift at home?" etc

Here are all the answers! :)

All about Brow lift

Table of Contents:

  1. What is brow lift?
  2. Why do you do a brow lift?
  3. How long does the brow lift last?
  4. How to do brow lift?
  5. Is brow lift for everyone?
  6. Can you remove the brow lift?
  7. Is the brow lift struggling on the brow?
  8. Can you do a brow lift at home?

brow lift before and after (browlift - brow lamination)

My eyebrows before and after brow lift. I'm addicted now!

What is brow lift?

Brow lift is also called brow lamination and there are also brands that have their own names e.g. Yumibrows etc. Dear child has many names, but it is basically the same thing that differs is the brand and the exact products used during the treatment.

Both lash lift and brow lift is really as simple as a permanent - when I first tested the treatment several years ago it was called "eyelash permanent". So you reshape the strands the way you want them, just like you do to get your hair curly!

In the hair it becomes curly thanks to rolling up the hair on round strands, but on the eyelashes you make a nice bend and on the eyebrows you shape the strands straight up - to then be able to comb them in whichever direction you want, both up and down or and the pages.

In other words: Brow lift means that you can brush the straws however you want - they do not have to lie up and it can also happen that they lie down when you sleep on them and have to be brushed up in the morning :)

Why do you do a brow lift?

On the one hand, it is a trend brow lift, it is nice that the straws are brushed upwards. But I who am more "nerd" in the area would say that there are LOTS of reasons to do brow lift:

Fuller brows
If you have sparse with straws, the brows can become fuller thanks to the fact that you can brush the straws in different directions so that they do not lie together / on top of each other.

For example this:

before and after brow lift

Well-shaped eyebrows
Some people have a lot of straw but still do not get the shape you want because the straw is not in the direction you want. For example. in the front edge it is common for the straws to lie completely to the side = sparse in the front.

For example this:

It is also common for them to grow straight down = sparse at the highest point.

For example this:

brow lift glesa bryn browlift

The customer has an old one tattoo below but you really see the difference in the straws at the top anyway!

Sparse brows / gaps in the brows
You do not have to brush the straws straight up but you can brush them over sparse areas.

For example this:

browlift before and after

With brow lift you can, as it were, do a "comb over" to fill in sparse parts. Á la Donald trump firmly on the brow;)

Welcoming eyebrows that stay in place
Many also have very obsessive eyebrows, then brow lift helps to make the straws lie so nicely combed all day.

For example this:

brow lamination brow lift before and after

Do you see in the model that her straws were very scattered before?

How long does the brow lift last?

It varies, ranging from 4 to 8 weeks!

What is so individual about brow lift is that it grows away and the eyebrows grow so differently fast on different people. Lash lift on eyelashes lasts a little longer than brow lift I would say as the cycle of the lashes is usually longer than the brow.

Some people book a brow pick every 3 weeks and for such a person, the brow lift is probably completely gone in 4 weeks. While some others book every other month and then the brow lift can sit for up to 8 weeks as well.

In addition, it disappears over and over again. In the beginning they can stay up without you touching them, then you need to brush them in the morning to keep them in place and in the end it becomes harder and harder to brush them as you wish.

I myself have now done brow lift three times and the first time it lasted 1.5 months and the second time I used brow serum and then I did it again after exactly 1 month because the brows grew faster.

How to do brow lift?

  1. You stick the straws up with a skin glue. Here you look pretty crazy for the straws so long when they are glued upwards and are licked against the skin.
  2. The first permanent liquid is applied. The duration of action varies depending on hair quality.
  3. A second permanent liquid is applied. Same duration of action as the first liquid.

Everything is washed away and then it's done! Most people also want to color the eyebrows afterwards, but be careful with the eyebrow color then because the straws absorb more color than usual.

brow lamination browlift brow lift

This is how crazy it can look during gluing :)

Here is the result for that customer:

brow lamination browlift brow lift

Is brow lift for everyone?

Quite frankly, it is possible to do the treatment on everyone but everyone need not brow lift. Some have naturally easy-combed straws that stay in place and can be combed in any direction you want! And then brow lift is an unnecessary treatment.

Browlift is mainly a treatment for you with straws that grow downwards, obsessive straws and / or sparse eyebrows where you can not do a "comb over" over voids and sparse parts without reshaping the straws.

Can you remove the brow lift?

The question is mainly why you want to remove browlift. Do you just think that you fit better without a browlift? Or have you done a failed browlift / brow lamination?

With a successful browlift, it does not need to be removed even if you regret it. You can brush the straws as you like anyway. When I do a browlift on myself, I can still brush the straws all the way down even if I do wants the.

If, on the other hand, you have had a failed brow lift, the situation may be different:

Have your brow hairs stuck in a direction you do not want? For example. there are practitioners who make brow lift very sprawling and unnatural. If the practitioner also had too long an action time, the straws can become so hard that they cannot be brushed as you want.

You can then redo the treatment if your brow hairs are still of good quality. Then you glue the straws as you want them and have a very short duration of action, then they should lie down nicely again without it tearing too much on the straws.

However, have you gotten rough ruffled / worn brows from brow lift and for that reason not got a good result? Then I do not recommend redoing the treatment. You then need to wait the time for it to disappear naturally and use caring products instead.

For example. is Refectocil Styling Gel (adlink) good! It cares for the straws while you can comb them nicely. Feel free to use a greasy cream as well to "weigh down" the straws a bit.

Is the brow lift struggling on the brow?

All treatments have a certain amount of wear on the hairs, the biggest difference is that you only do the treatment once on the eyebrows - because the next time you come you have completely new eyebrow hairs. Unlike the hair on the head where the quality for people with long hair should last for several years.

The aftercare I usually do is to brush in daily Refectocil Styling Gel (adlink) with vitamin E and D-Panthenol. Brilliant / transparent mascara / caring conditioner in the same product!

care for lashes and eyebrows

Ps. how nice is it not with matte red lips? The color of this image has been deleted, but can e.g. recommend Pixi MatteLast Liquid Lip (adlink) in the shade Caliente Coral, so heavenly nice!

Can you do a brow lift at home?

It is possible to do a brow lift at home and nowadays there are home kits to buy. I have not tested this kit myself with Refectocil which is a great brand (!) Has released RefectoCil Brow Lamination Kit (adlink) which would have been my first choice to test if I would buy a home kit :)

If you are used to making your eyebrows and lashes, browlift / brow lamination should not be a problem. If, on the other hand, you do not even pick or dye your eyebrows yourself, you should be more careful. If you want to do a brow lift at home, you can do as I wrote here, thinking about being careful with the duration of action only.

So my tips for doing it at home is to take it easy and not stress and read my entire post first. :)

Read especially section 4 in this post to do brow lift at home. Then I have outlined all the steps and how to do it. Click here to jump to that section.

Browlift or Brow Lamination?

It does not matter which of the treatments you choose, brow lamination and browlift are the same thing. However, browlift can also mean a surgical lift of the eyebrows, it is not to be confused with browlift where you only lift the straws. :)

I have also made a post about that pick different eyebrow shapes, so if you are interested in eyebrows I can highly recommend it too! :)

Hope you liked my great post that thoroughly went through all the questions you may have about browlift / brow lamination. Should any questions arise, feel free to comment below and ask! :)
