Foldable eyebrow knives

Foldable eyebrow knives are good because they last longer without becoming dull, and I also feel a little fresher!

And right from the start, they are sharper and more effective than many eyebrow knives, which I like. It was almost shocking to go from my old lazy who lay and got worn out among all the makeup - to this effective one! What a difference!

What is a whetstone?
An eyebrow knife is not as sharp as a razor blade and more adapted to remove small hairs and "scabs". In addition, the shape is adapted to get good precision around the eyebrows.

Why use a whetstone?
Some people use a sharpening knife instead of tweezers, to quickly clean around a bit. But most people use it as a complement - first you pick the eyebrows and then you remove all the small hairs around the mold so that it is completely clean. All small straws are very time consuming to remove with tweezers and almost completely impossible to remove exactly all.

It is also a perfect quick fix when you have not had time to pick your eyebrows and quickly need to get rid of everyone who is growing out.

I hold the knife at the same inclination as the edge, pull with small gentle pulls down and stop right where the edge begins.

It's very simple! It is not so sharp that you risk suddenly shaving off half the eyebrow or something like that;)

Can you use an eyebrow knife for the rest of your face?
Yes it is possible, but I recommend threading the face instead (preferably on a treatment but I myself use one epistick) so you get the straws removed from the root instead. Otherwise, the straws become a little stubby when they grow out, and even if it is not visible, many people think it feels rough. If you remove the straws from the root instead, the new straw grows out with a soft and narrow top.

However, I must admit that I myself usually use it on my face sometimes anyway, let a person live a little;)

For example, the knife BrowGame Cosmetics Eyebrow Shaping Knife Foldable (adlink) which I can really recommend!

Bridal makeup & hair styling

Here is a bridal makeup + simple hair styling that I did on a customer this week.

We did a make-up that cheers up while being down to earth and neutral :)

BASE:
Face primer - Pixi Flawless & poreless primer
Foundation - Pixi H2O Skintint (2 Nude)
Concealer - glo Under eye concealer (Golden)
Contouring & matt highlighter - Contouring Palette (No. 2)
Rouge - glo Skin Beauty Blush (Papaya)
Fixing mist - Pixi makeup fixing mist

EYEBROW:
Fountain pen + bryngel - Pixi Natural Brow Duo (Deep brunette)

EYES:
Eyeshadow Primer - Pixi eye bright primer
Eyeshadows - glo Shadow Quad (Bon Voyage)
Light eyeliner along the waterline - gloMinerals Eye Pencil (Peach)
Eyeliner - Kryolan HD Cream Liner (Ebony)
Mascara - Magnetic lash mascara

LIPS:
Matte lipstick - glo Suede Matte Crayon (Trademark)

I do not usually do hair styling but of course help as best I can if the person does not want to book an appointment elsewhere :) I am interested in beauty so completely incompetent I am not on hair but I am definitely not so good that I can take any customer without knowing hair type and wishes in advance. So when I do hair styling, the person knows that I am not a hair stylist.

If you book an appointment with our makeup artist Lisa, however, she also fixes hair, she is very good at it!

Ready for a wedding! :)

Hope you were inspired too!

Brown smokey eye with silver glitter (Step by step)

Here is a make-up that I think many of you will like, not in the way that it is nicer or more fun than the ones I usually do, but that you may want to do the make-up on yourselves :)

A brown sweep (always works!) And a dab of silver glitter in the corner of the eye. Very useful!

Colored face primer - glo Tinted Primer spf 30 (Medium)
Concealer - Pixi Pat Away Concealing Base (1 Cream)
Powder that neutralizes redness - glo Redness relief powder
Contouring - Contouring Palette (2)
Rouge - Blush (35)
Fixing Mist - Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist
Powder - Paese Bamboo Silk Powder

Eyebrows - glo Micro Brow Liner (Raven)

Lip pencil on the entire lips - glo Lip Pencil (Vino) and then some of the hue (Java) in the contours of one a little darker contour.

What I have used is the trio palette Paese Kashmir Trio Eyeshadow in shade 684 which contains three matte eye shadows and I crazy-love the gray-brown shade (the medium dark) which makes the make-up cooler :) And then the silver glitter Mood Wood Natural Glitter which is made of wood and biodegradable in nature.

Tip! I have also used the gray-brown color in the fading of the dark brown shade, which is a smokey eye tip for anyone with light skin, a very dark shade can be more difficult to fade out because it is a great contrast to the skin tone. Fade out the dark brown shade first and then you take some of this lighter gray-brown in the fade and blur a little extra, then you very easily get a soft and nice sweeping :)

  1. Eyeshadow primer, Pixi eye bright primer
Gray-brown shadow in the corner of the eye
  2. Brown eye shadow on the entire eyelid
  3. Fade the brown shade
Apply more gray-brown shadow on the inside of the eyelid and in the fading
  4. Silver glitter in the corner of the eye, attached with Kryolan Cake Liner Sealer
  5. The same shadows along the lower lash line - first brown and then gray-brown in the fade
Light beige eye shadow at the bottom of the lower lash line (also from the same trio palette)
  6. Black mascara on all lashes, Magnetic lash mascara

Clear!

Hope you were inspired :) Hugs!

My business week v. 31

It rarely happens but the past week has actually felt very long! How often does it happen? :)

I have had a lot of things done, had a lot of customers (including a bridal make-up last Saturday) and also had energy to fix at home in the evenings!

Themes about entrepreneurship - come with wishes or questions!
On September 10, Miska and I go on a road trip trip in Spain! Preparing blog material with make-up is easy to do in advance, however my Sunday posts must be written at the end of each week because otherwise I do not know what has happened;)

When we were in Mexico, I wrote the Sunday posts anyway, but now we will be more on the move, so then I have decided to be completely free from blog posts! Therefore, I thought instead of preparing theme posts on entrepreneurship the two Sundays I am away. It can be fun too, right? :)

Do you have any questions about my business so I can have a little question time in one of the posts maybe? Or requests for themes! I can make a whole post on a specific topic, but I do not know what you want to read more about so I need your help ♥

You can either comment in this post or email me at helena@imakeyousmile.se!

Throws in for fun a picture of what my webshop Byher.se looked like when I tried to sell clothes, bags and shoes too haha! I would make a whole post about all my failed ideas haha;)

A comfortable and undisturbed Helena is a productive Helena
I started the week with three (!) Working days away from home. My sister and the children I live with are in Finland so I take care when there is good peace of mind at home in the house;) And it is so extremely hot in the salon so you do not become directly efficient there.

I actually got an incredible amount done, so effective that I could breathe a sigh of relief and be completely free in the evening and still very happy with everything I had managed to achieve!

The whole first day I sat constantly on the bench at the kitchen table, but we have such hard chairs so day two I had to sit on the couch as much as possible. However, the living room is the warmest room and having a super hot computer in your lap at the same time became completely unbearable!

But as an entrepreneur than you are also an experienced problem solver;)

I put two pillows on the sides of me, then I lifted the lid from a storage box and put it over the pillows so that it was a few centimeters above the legs = a perfect work table!

Look so good:

If I'm comfortable and sitting completely undisturbed, I can become so into what I'm doing that it's suddenly been 3 hours of line work (which feels like 15 minutes) without me even looking up from the computer. I love when I get into such a job mode!

The blinds were really a worthwhile investment! Here it is 31 degrees warm outside and radiant sun, while the flame of the diligence is lit in the kitchen where we sit and work in the dark.

Celebrate our goal image!
Every summer when our deadline for the goal picture is reached, we go out and have dinner to celebrate and take the opportunity to hang out with each other without talking jobs. So cozy!

Our team is not only awesome at what they do but also incredibly good to keep up with :) We had dinner at the Harbor Pavilion where you sit type "outdoors but indoors" with a view of the boats passing by outside. Then we took a walk in the park next door and ended up on a bench by a pond and just talked goja :)

Actually, the plan was a spa day with a theme of relaxation where Annika and I would talk a bit about stress, well-being, etc. But on the other hand, many spa places were closed for the summer and then the whole team could not come either so we postpone it to another time.

Since it was not possible to find a date where everyone could at the same time, we decided the date when Zahra, Ida and Olga could, because it is above all the three who have done a real horse job at the salon in the past year! Where would we have been without them? ♥

When they came to the restaurant, 3 gift bags were waiting in their places with a tied helium balloon with our logo and their name on it :) They were so happy!

Blog structure
I really have no plans to stop blogging, I never get tired! In addition, I see great value in the blog both as marketing (google searches for example) but also that all make-up and tips can be used in the webshop as well. Our webshop will be a small educational bank and source of inspiration! Then it's a personal creativity that I get an outlet for as well, only that thing is actually worth gold :)

But it is clear that one sometimes wonders if it is financially defensible with the time I spend? Partly because blogs are generally not the most visited format anymore, I would have liked to invest more in my own brand and kind of become an "influencer" so it is Instagram and Youtube that apply. But that is not the purpose of everything I do.

Before, I made 3-4 posts a day, it feels really sick at the moment! But before, people read blogs so often, you went in several times a day if you knew that new material was coming all the time. Then I just worked with the blog and webshop and built up my platform.

Now I would rather have quality before quantity and have set a new structure of 4 specific posts a week, it is not a goal but rather my minimum. First my Sunday post about entrepreneurship and then 3 beauty posts on weekdays. There can definitely be more posts in between as well (such as this week there were 5 posts because I did a quick powder tip for oily skin as well) and I hope that this structure leads to me getting more inspiration because I do not always is under time pressure!

Because I get quite unmotivated when I "lag behind" with the blog all the time. I often sit at the make-up mirror and think "I have to put on make-up now and then fix the pictures quickly because otherwise there will be no blog post today" because my goal has been one post a day.

Until now - I started this structure last week, which resulted in me already being able to fix the beauty posts for Monday for the next two weeks! Do you know how nice this feels? More routines for the people! :)

This is what my blog planning looked like this Monday! How disturbing that the almanac starts with a Sunday ?? It is not possible to change haha. All these posts are finished except for the Business posts, of course because they can not be written in advance :)

I have just started with this so we will see if it is a winning concept or not. But I really love to have the "basic blogging" planned properly in advance and then I am free to fill in with other fun on the empty days when there is time and inspiration left!

What do you think about this? I do not think you will notice any difference at all actually, I do not have time to blog every day at the moment anyway. If achieved, it will surely get better!

Submit your blog for service
Speaking of the blog, it has received some maintenance as well! I handed it in for service at Miska, you could say;)

There were some technical things that went wrong. The Instagram add-on in the side menu had suddenly stopped updating. And the big comment button under each post is now finally back! It disappeared for some strange reason and after that I have received a few complaints that it is difficult when the comment button is above the post because then you have to scroll up again when you have finished reading. But now it's fixed :)

In addition, I made my header image a little more similar to the webshop, with our "glittery" background that we use for all campaign images and the like.

And then all the info that has not been updated in 3 years haha "I am a 22-year-old girl and run the webshop creativemakeup.se" is no longer true at all. And I have been thinking about why I get a press release to the salon and that it is also the old address "Creative Makeup By Her" before we removed the "by her part", but I now saw that that address remained in the contact-me- side.

But now all the hassle is fixed, all info is updated and the blog feels fresh and tidy!

Throws in a print screen of what the blog looks like on the computer, for all of you who read via mobile (which is perhaps most of them?).

New cozy corner, new mustache and new insights
Right now as I write this post, I am sitting in a "new" place in the house - our new cozy corner in the living room! We drank our morning coffee here this morning and then I said to Miska:

I remember how I thought in my teens, how much I wanted a guy with a driver's license and how cool you thought it was with older guys who moved away from home and so on. And now I sit here - with a boyfriend who not only has a driver's license but also always backs up confidently when he parks, who has a mustache, who is driven and starts a business with me AND who is good at interior design and asks to turn an old kitchen table into a bench in less than an hour

We in a team are so very efficient, we started to fix the living room on Thursday and have fixed everything in the evenings. We have connected electricity and made a homemade lamp from a large old wheel, I have sewn up and ironed 4 curtains, Miska has (as I said) rebuilt a kitchen table for a bench, and then we have shopped and set up cozy things like a hammock chair in the ceiling, pouf and new pillows. Really nice here now! :)

A seak peak on our cozy corner and Miska in his new mustache which he is testing :)

Think that just you that I fell in love with is also energetic and clever and ba agrees to move in with my sister and then comes up with really good interior design ideas AND is quick to fix them!

Then Miska said that it is thanks to me that he has become so energetic and handy, that he has developed as a person, he was not at all like that before (and I actually remember that when I think about it) but because I am driven ( and has bad patience hehe) so he becomes so too and thinks it's fun when things happen and that not every day should look the same for the rest of his life.

You are the one who shaped my mustacheHe said, hahaha!

This thing about getting to grips with things is a personality thing that I really feel good about, whether it's about business or private life. Postponing problems and projects is like asking for inner stress. Being a "doer" does not mean that you work yourself to death, it can actually give a lot of inner peace and replenish the energy bank as well :)

Now I will enjoy the rain pouring down here and then I will take a bath and try to make acrylic nails on myself! Yep you heard right, wish me luck haha!

Hugs are!

Makeup customer from Skåne!

I did this make-up on a customer that you have seen here in the blog before - she lives in Skåne and usually stays at Creative Makeup in Uppsala when she travels around Sweden. It was the 4th time she was with me now, so honoring to have a regular from Skåne as well! :)

This time we did an everyday make-up with a quickly applied base and a lift for the eyes without having a very marked eye shadow.

Here is the result:

BASE:
Colored face primer - glo Tinted Primer Spf 30 (Medium)
Contouring & matt highlighter - Contouring Palette (No. 2)
Rouge - glo Skin Beauty Blush (Papaya)
Fixing mist - Pixi makeup fixing mist

EYEBROW:
Brynpenna - gloMicro brow liner (Dark brown)

EYES:
Eyeshadow Primer - Pixi eye bright primer
Eyeshadows - glo Eyeshadow Quartet (Bon Voyage)
Light eyeliner along the waterline - gloMinerals Eye Pencil (Peach)
Eyeliner - Kryolan HD Cream Liner (Ebony)
Mascara - Magnetic lash mascara

LIPS:
Lip pencil on the entire lips - glo Lip Pencil (Soulmate)

The colored face primer looked so nice on her skin! Smooth and just right covering. As a primer, foundation, powder and even sunscreen in the same product :)

If you want to see a party makeup I did on her before, you can check out the post "Party makeup in Uppsala”When we did a more smoky party make-up. Then I had a better camera at the salon as well because I did all my blog make-up there. It became much softer light then.

Hope you think our current camera works well enough too? :)

If you also want to book an appointment with us at Creative Makeup in Uppsala, we have a simple online booking on our website Creativemakeup.se

Hugs are!
