My Midsummer Eve

5

I get a lot of requests to show some personal photos here in the blog as well, and not just makeup. I will try to get better at it and start now with some pictures from our Midsummer Eve! :) ♥

Miska and I made our own midsummer wreaths with flowers from my mother's plot before we went to grandma's. Fina va? :) Less is not more.

You should sit outside, even though it is cold;) In the picture on the right you see Linnea's reaction when she sees this youtube clip, so much fun!

Thord plunged into the glass during dinner and gave a small speech to his wife Irja who was so incredibly cute!

He first tell an anecdote about when Irja had a surprise party for him when he turned 30, everyone jumped up and sang! And he thought all evening "I wonder how I can tell everyone that it is not until the next month I turn one, and that it is not the 9th but the 10th, and that it is not 30, but 29..." Lol! So now he surprised her on her wedding day when yesterday was exactly one day, a month and a year before they celebrate 30 years as married ♥♥♥

When it was time for dessert, the sheep also wanted it - all the birches we decorated with!

Then there was a barbecue in the rain before we went home - and then the jackets went on. I stole my sister's jacket and Miska stole my grandmother's;)

Hope you had as wonderful a Midsummer Eve as we did!

Warning for the "hype" around the Taffy method!

I often get questions about permanent makeup, and in recent years there have been lots of questions about the taffy method, which is a special technique when tattooing eyebrows. It has become very hyped to tattoo just taffy, and since I have not tested the method myself, I can not comment on how much better / worse it is than other methods.

MEEEN I talked to Annika at Creative Makeup yesterday and she was so sad for all the customers who come to her with ugly eyebrows that need to be corrected - it has become much, much more since the Taffy method became popular and very many just the last month have come to her with ugly Taffy eyebrows.

This is because no matter what method you use, it is still very important that the person who tattoos you is good! Otherwise it will not be good anyway. So when you are looking for salons, do not go for what they use for method, but go for how knowledgeable they are.

Many people email me and look for "the nearest salon that makes taffy eyebrows" which is a very risky thought when you do such a sensitive thing as a tattoo on the face. You have no idea (not even I understood it before I started working with makeup at Creative Makeup one day a week) how many people really get their face ruined by rogue tattooists, even in salons in Sweden that otherwise look professional

I'm not saying that all Taffy tattoos are bad (it's probably mostly about the tattoo artist) and I'm not so familiar with what the Taffy method means, other than that they do not use a tattoo machine, but a small knife that they dip in paint and then cut small lines in the skin with.

But the most common problems with taffy eyebrows that Annika has fixed, are that the color quickly turns gray and looks a bit like a pencil. And that the straws have flowed together and look a bit "messy". On some customer, I even think it would have been like a little lump somewhere. And then, of course, it is always required that the person has an eye for color, shape and symmetry, and sometimes it is such details that are wrong, which then largely depends on the tattoo artist and not the tattoo method.

In other words - I'm not saying that Taffy is bad, but I can say without hesitation that several Taffy tattoo artists are not good! I have seen it with my own eyes. So I say it again, just because taffy is hyped, do not be blinded by hearing the word "taffy method" and strike, but check out the salon and previous customers carefully.

And as you know, I recommend Annika to 100%, and there is a reason why she is so heavenly fully booked. She does not have a single free time of the whole year left! The new times for 2016 will be released soon. The one who is waiting for something good…;)

Happy Solstice!!!

2

Good morning finaste ni! And Happy Midsummer to you! ♥

Or "Happy Miss Summer" as my mother snapchated this morning with a picture of our cat Missan, haha. Humor and joke;)

Today I was going to take some time off from the blog actually. Had planned to schedule posts but there has been a lot of other things in between so the time has not been enough.

So instead of stressing out posts on the morning twig, I now intend to refill my coffee cup, eat a good breakfast and then in peace and quiet do a nice Midsummer make-up for the day, which you will see tomorrow instead :)

Hope you all have an incredibly fun and wonderful Midsummer Eve!

I'm going out to Grandma's like we always do at Midsummer. Spend time with the family, dance with Mila and Meja around the bar, laugh (and marvel) at how many potatoes Malin manages to squeeze in every year, midsummer cuddle with Mille for the first time ♥ and insist on always putting her midsummer wreath on the sheep's head and try to take a picture before they throw it away :)

This is about how my day will look like. Feel free to tell us how you intend to celebrate the day, so cozy to hear other people's plans and traditions!

Offers some pictures of how I have looked at Midsummer the last four years, from brunette to blonde and short-haired as I was for two years, and last year I had long blonde hair :)

Contest! Win a summer kit from Vision Haircare

0

In collaboration with Vision Haircare, I have had the opportunity to raffle off a great summer kit with products to one of my readers! :)

I have tested the products myself and think they are really good! The kit consists of two sunscreens for the body (spf 30 and spf 50+), a styling spray and a salt water spray.

Vision Haircare is a Swedish brand made for people who live in Sweden and is adapted to this particular climate. Check out theirs Facebook page and Instagram for more info and inspiration, they update quite a lot so it's fun to follow :)

Here is a short review of each product, and at the end of the post you can easily compete by filling out the form ♥

Here you see the whole kit!

SOLA by Vision Haircare is a sun protection factor in spray form that should give an even and non-sticky result - and it does too! Easy to spray on the body, absorbed into the skin quickly and does not feel sticky but you can put on the clothes immediately. Smells basically nothing. Available in both spf 30 and spf 50+ which feels great!

The most important thing for me is a sunscreen that does not smudge, this one feels a little on the skin immediately after but is absolutely not sticky and after just a few minutes it does not feel at all.

IMG_6548_111

Vision Haircare Styling Spray is a great hair spray that in addition to keeping the hairstyle in place also has UV protection that protects the hair from the sun's strong rays. It does not feel hard or awkward in the hair at all, but keeps the volume up all day and makes the hair look nice while it is as soft and comfortable as before. No super strong spray but perfect for everyday use.

IMG_6552_111

Vision Haircare RUFF Saltwater Spray is probably the best salt water spray I have tested! It is effective and gives the hair the slightly rough and easily styled feeling, without making the hair feel dry as many other sprays can do. Gives a nice structure to the hair without removing the well-groomed feeling. Perfect for us with thin, fine hairs that can be difficult to get it nice and fast!

Just fill in this form and you will be competing for these 4 products:

Good luck! :) ♥

Summery nail colors

I'm not that good at painting nails, usually do not do more advanced than one and the same color on all 10 fingers. Or good and good, I do not have the patience haha. But I have fallen in love with a summery color combination and therefore thought I would show you three different ways I have combined these nail polishes, to show how nice the colors are together!

So you get some inspiration even if you do it yourself more skillfully later;)

It is Paese Nail Polish I have used in shades 184 (pink), 179 (apricot) and 176 (green).

IMG_6605_111

This is what it looks like if you paint the whole nail in the same color, but do a little different on different nails :)

IMG_6366_111

And here I made a combination with Paese's white nail polish in shade 102 too! A little more fun :) It was these nails yesterday's make-up was inspired by!

And if you are more tidy, these are nice together in an ombre. My sister tested it on me for the first time last weekend, and it looked like this:

IMG_6234_111

The paint is on Byher.se and costs SEK 49.

Surely the color combo is great? Nice to just mix the green and the apricot-colored as well, or the pink and the apricot-colored :)
