What do you fit in?

0

A very common comment about my make-up is "you fit in everything!".

Just the other day, a customer said to me (who saw me in blonde hair for the first time) “it must be fun to be able to change the look as much as you do! ” and meant that I have a look that fits in everything, while she just fits in as she always looks.

That people think I fit in everything is only because I actually dare to show myself in everything! :)

At school I was once heard "it's only Helena that fits in all colors, what if you yourself had come in green eye shadow!". But if that person had come regularly in green eye shadow, everyone would have thought that she also fit in there.

If you yourself thrive in something, you will automatically think that you fit in it, both yourself (which is the only important thing) but also others. Of course, as a makeup artist you should be able to learn color to know what the colors give for effects. But when a customer says "I do not fit in cold colors", I take it as "I do not feel nice in cold colors" because it is obvious that everyone can use cold colors and vice versa.

Makeup has no rules;)

I sometimes wish I had a more "makeup-friendly" look, like when you make up a person with super nice skin, sharp cheekbones, plump lips, large eyelids and nice eyebrows - and just about every makeup detail becomes wow-looking right away!

But I do not have all that;) I have a very "normal" appearance and see myself as two eyes, a nose and a mouth hahaha, my point is that there is nothing special about why I should fit in everything and not all the people who make these comments.

So sum up: You do not have to go far outside your comfort zone, but if you think makeup is fun and want to experiment more, give it a try !! Try a color you do not usually use, add a little more eye shadow than usual or put your hair in a crazy hair knot with flowers. Anything :) One thing will lead to another and eventually release the barriers.

Offers an old treat haha, I did this make-up about 2.5 years ago.

I myself do not feel as nice in everything, e.g. blue-black make-up I can have a little hard for for some reason. But if I were to see a person who looks exactly the same as me who had that make-up, I would probably have thought it was just as nice!

It's just about what you yourself enjoy - and to know that you have to test yourself.

Do you have any input on this topic, feel free to comment, it would be fun :)

Hug! ♥

My business week v. 23

This week has been more active than last week, I am fever-free and feel like myself again!

I did not really recognize my brain last week with thoughts that my big dreams are extremely unrealistic and will never work. I, as always, am the master of big dreams haha. It should be so that people think that you are joking when you tell your future plans - then you know that they are at a good level;)

But now I am my old normal self again and it was noticed not least last Friday haha. I then had a short telephone meeting with a huge company, everything is secret but it is absolutely no big deal why they talked to me, so you do not have to be curious. But in any case, I told Miska afterwards that it still feels fun to talk to a person who has come a long way in his career within a successful company. She ended the conversation with "our paths may cross again in the future at some point!" and Miska's answer to that was "yes she might work for you later!" and I happily agreed haha! Not high thoughts at all :)

Focus on different environments
I have a hard time concentrating if I am often interrupted, ie that someone talks to me, the phone rings, the email rings and things like that. When I sometimes stand in the reception and work with "my own" at the computer, I can also have difficulty concentrating even though it is relatively quiet, just because I know I have to keep an eye on the door when customers come, etc.

BUT if I know that I do not have to worry about the outside world, then I am very good at shutting out sound. I can be very focused in any type of environment! Almost fascinating :)

On Monday e.g. when I sat at home in the evening and made the salaries (overtime, completeness, vacation days and things to be compiled from last month) which is a lot of dates, minutes and numbers to keep track of, then Meja and Miska fooled next to me on the couch and I barely noticed by them.

My sister took this picture of us haha! :)

There have been some work evenings at home with the computer this week, so nice that you can catch up on things when you have had a lot of customers and other things during the day.

Student makeup
This Tuesday we left home just before 6 o'clock to have a student make-up in the morning!

We usually have lots of makeup and hair styling on student day, but we are so fully booked now that only I could start working early. And you can only take 1-2 make-ups per person because they must be ready so heavenly early to go to champagne breakfast. So we did not advertise student makeup this year.

I was a bit tired frozen and had thermos mug with coffee with me in the car and then Miska took out blankets too, so cozy ♥ You should enjoy the little moments in life :)

She was so nice! I helped her take this picture for her instagram :)

We actually did a simple hair styling, managed to do both make-up and hair in 1 hour! I'm not a hair stylist, but when she spontaneously needed help with her hair, I did my best with a few simple curls, and she was very happy!

I did not have time to do a step-by-step make-up before work when it got so early, but I was going to the NYX Nordic Face Awards in the evening so I put on make-up at work before opening instead, it worked well too :) I had some hours between student make-up and opening!

I had it so cozy! Listened to documentary podcasts and put on make-up (it felt unusual not to take photos between each product haha) and once we opened at 10 it felt very strange that people started coming because I had been alone there for so long haha.

NYX Nordic Face Awards & awake for almost 24 hours
This year I was invited to the NYX Nordic Face Awards again! Like this I looked last year :)

As I wrote above, I put on make-up at work, so I have no close-ups on that make-up, but it turned out to be a smokey eye in black, brown, pink-purple and silver glitter! And then red lips to it :)

And here is the whole outfit:

Me and best Molkan.se (awesome beauty blog-check it out!) matched so heavenly well with our outfits! I did not think about it until we stood there and glittered together in front of the camera haha.

Our makeup artist Lisa was so cute and curled my hair at her lunch before the event, so please! Many people want their very own team with makeup artist, hair stylist, etc. and we have that here :) Luxury!

And then I live with my sister and could borrow exactly the whole outfit from her too haha. I'm so damn spoiled!

NYX Professional Makeup had its competition NYX Nordic Face Awards for the 3rd year in a row and it is always so nicely organized at their event! You can actually see the whole gala that was broadcast live Nordicfaceawards.com ! :)

Always fun to meet Malin! She also had a camera with her (compared to me who only had a mobile phone) and was so cute and sent the pictures to me later!

Before the event, I queued up @LindaLoopiz for about 20 minutes before we got in - they ran out of GDPR paper haha. Like you haven't spent enough time on gdpr already;) So we needed to write on paper about handling personal data because it would be photographed and broadcast live.

Fine! ♥

Me and Camilla Söderlund posed in this pink fluff corner! I want this kind of decor at home in my make-up room too;)

It's never hard to go to events alone anymore, there are always people you know and it's always fun to see!

The jury is sitting and being interviewed :)

So inspiring to see all the creative looks! Just wanted to go home and put on make-up haha!

The winner of the Nordic Face Awards 2018 was @ritaermin! So good!

When I came home and scratched mine on the back, I found confetti that was glued to the skin haha! Two even! You can not not love confetti rain :)

IF I was falling asleep while sitting on the bus home then. I got up at 5 in the morning and went to bed at 2 at night. When I washed off the make-up and realized that the student make-up was the same day, I got a shock, the day was so long that it felt like it had happened earlier in the week.

Red day & planning meeting
But it did not matter so much that it was late in the day - because on Wednesday we worked from home and Annika came to Gimo and had a long meeting with me and miska. So I got some sleep in the morning before Annika came :)

We went through a little "bigger" stuff that you never have time to talk through under small gaps in the schedule at work, and it felt really nice to be able to nail some stuff and get a common thread between things.

I forgot to take a picture from the meeting, we sat on our terrace and ate strawberries with a computer in front of us. But I look forward to an insight into our document with notes instead:

Feels ridiculous to blur like everything but now it gets so;) In Quip you can add checklists and different column stuff, absolutely perfect when you have to structure things!

More times for eyelash permanent / lash lift
Our summer planning was reversed when our makeup artist Ämma was unfortunately on long-term sick leave and our 3 makeup artists are so fully booked for the summer that there will be very long waiting times.

It is a positive problem to be fully booked, but no fun service when you answer the phone and someone wants to book an appointment for eyelash permanent (lash lift) and lash color and there is not a single time until after midsummer. In addition, we lose customers because if you want nice lashes at the beginning of the summer and there is no time, you will go to someone else, permanent makeup may be worth the wait, but lashes and eyebrows before the holiday is another matter.

So now both Olga and Lisa have gone up in time and work full days 5 days a week, the others sometimes book customers off their schedule and work overtime - all this is done and there is still no time for lash lift before midsummer haha.

That's why we started teaching our teeth whitening Mia on eyelash permanent too! She is not a makeup artist and will not shape eyebrows (even though she is crazy about beauty) but you do not need to be able to put on make-up to make eyelash permanent so she should start with that too and will also take evenings every other week all summer, woop woop!

We started teaching her a while ago and she has seen all our makeup artists do the treatment. Last Friday, she filmed when Olga permanent the lashes on a customer and has started practicing doing the treatment herself now as well.

Fringe permanent is not as simple as you might think, the treatment itself is not rocket science but you choose the size and shape of the spool based on the person's own lashes and wishes (some want very curved and some just a little lift) and then it differs in effect time as well. In addition, you should get the speed in, the lashes should be glued up nicely before the glue has time to dry. So there are a lot of aspects that come into play so you need to work up your own experience as well.

Mia will actually start with this the week after midsummer but I hope that we can possibly open up some more times before midsummer as well :)

Here Mia is sitting and watching when Olga does the treatment :)

Otherwise, it has not happened much more special, I have had a lot of customers e.g. a test makeup for bridal makeup I will do in August! We have had a staff meeting with the whole team, I have fixed salaries, statistics, invoices etc. because it is a month now and tried to blog as soon as I had a while left.

And also this week I publish the job-week post today even though it is Saturday (and not on a Sunday as usual) because today Annika and I are going to Milan over the weekend for a fair & conference with permanent makeup. Woop woop! So you get to know more about next weekend because now we will be flying around a lot!

Now I'm going to run to the bus! :)

Hugs are! ♥

Bright & colorful summer makeup

I felt very nice in this make-up at work, you know a make-up like that where you can not put your finger on exactly why but it just feels very "me".

I've been thinking a lot lately that I really want to push extra for makeup does not have to be that difficult! :) There are so many who want to put on more make-up but do not do it because you think it must take a very long time, that it is difficult, you are afraid of making mistakes, etc. But I say it again - it does not have to be so difficult :)

"Easy for you to say" you may be thinking now, and of course you have a point there haha. However, I want to emphasize that you can make it difficult for yourself and you can make it easy for yourself! If I had skipped eyeshadow primer and used a too big, too small, worn or bad brush or rubber thing that often comes with eyeshadows, then I would also have thought it was very difficult!

Tips - Read my post 10 tips when applying eye shadow if you want tips on how to make it easier for you!

This make-up is easy to feel comfortable in (compared to many other colorful make-ups) and does not require much technology or a steady hand! It's not so much small pills that take time as well.

Colored face primer - glo tinted primer spf 30 (Medium)
Concealer -
Pixi Pat Away Concealing Base (1 Cream)
Powder that neutralizes redness glo Redness relief powder
Contouring - Contouring Palette (2)
Rouge - Blush (35)
Fixing Mist - Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist
Powder - Paese Bamboo Silk Powder

Brynpenna - glo Skin Beauty Micro Brow Liner (Raven)

Lip pencil - glo Lip Pencil (Java) in the contours
Lipstick - glo Suede Matte Crayon (Trademark) in the middle

I like that the eyes are bright at the same time as they are very colorful, it is easy to wear up to everyday for any outfit :)

  1. Eyeshadow primer, Pixi eye bright primer
Light purple eye shadow on the entire eyelid, Paese Neo eyeshadow (654) (Dab on the entire eyelid with Nanshy crease brush and blur a little at the edge with the same brush)
  2. Yellow eye shadow in the corner of the eye, Paese Neo eyeshadow (662)
  3. White eye shadow in the corner of the eye, Paese cashmere eyeshadow (601)
Purple eye shadow even under the eye
  4. Blue eye shadow at the end of the eyelid, Paese Neo eyeshadow (661)
  5. Black eyeshadow at the end of the eyelid and at the bottom of the lower lash line, Paese cashmere eyeshadow (602)
  6. Black mascara on all lashes, Magnetic lash mascara

Clear!

So I have put the purple eye shadow basically around the whole eye, and the rest of the shadows I have just dabbed on top for some nice shifts.

The light waterline in the eye is tattooed so I have it permanently, for exactly the same result as this make-up you can supplement with glo Eye Pencil (Peach)

If you have any questions about the make-up, it is as usual just to shout :)

Hug ♥

Oldie but goldie

I published this make-up in 2016 - but it is very useful and I know that many people appreciated this step by step, so now that I have been a bit half-hearted in producing make-up, I thought I could publish this again!

A favorite in replay simply :)

A soft sweep with a focus on the top of the eyes that lifts the gaze!

Bassmink:
Foundation - gloMinerals Pressed Base Foundation (Golden Medium)
Powder that neutralizes red - gloMinerals Redness Relief Powder
Contouring - Paese Bronzing Powder (1M)
Rouge - gloMinerals Blush (Papaya)
Fixing Mist - Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist

Eyebrows - Pixi Natural Brow Duo (Natural Brown)
Matte lipstick - Paese Matt Liquid Lipstick (703)

I posted this picture even before we sold these Paese lipsticks, this was during the trial period when I tested if they held the measure to qualify in our web shop!

  1. Off-white eyeliner along the lower lash line, Benecos Natural White Kajal
  2. Black lashliner / fringe marking, Paese Kashmir Eyeshadow (602)
  3. Mark the outer edge of the eye with a line from the outer corner of the eye and outwards, preferably at the same angle / slope as the lower lash line for as lifting an effect as possible.
  4. Apply more black eye shadow on the lower edge of the eyelid and fade the edge a little.
  5. Look straight ahead in the mirror, relax your forehead, apply brown eye shadow above the crease line so that the brown eye shadow is visible even when you look straight ahead, then you get an even more lifting effect, Paese Opal Eyeshadow (Caffe Latte)
  6. Look at the entire eyelid again and you will see how much skin is "inside the globe line" when you look straight ahead.
  7. Fill the entire eyelid with the same brown eyeshadow and fade it into the black at the bottom edge.
  8. Light eye shadow in the corner of the eye, Paese Opal Eyeshadow (Caffe Latte)
Black mascara on the upper lashes (top only), Magnetic Lash Mascara

Clear!

Simple and very nice :)

Hug!

Makeup in turquoise, pink & yellow

Miska paints so many paintings at home and right now he is working on a painting in the colors turquoise, pink, yellow and black - which inspired me to today's makeup! :)

Face primer - Paese Makeup Base (Matte)
Concealer -
Pixi Pat Away Concealing Base (1 Cream)
Foundation - glo pressed Base Foundation (Honey medium)
Contouring - Contouring Palette (2)
Rouge - Blush (35)
Fixing Mist - Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist
Powder - Paese Bamboo Silk Powder

Brynpenna - glo Skin Beauty Micro Brow Liner (Raven)

Lip pencil - glo Lip Pencil (Soulmate) in the contours
Lipstick - glo Lipstick (Bella)

It's something with pink and yellow together that I just LOVE! :)

All colorful shades are Paese NEO Eyeshadow.

  1. Eyeshadow primer, Pixi eye bright primer
Yellow eye shadow in the corner of the eye
  2. Pink eyeshadow at the end of the eyelid
  3. Light eye shadow in the middle of the eyelid, Paese cashmere eyeshadow (667)
  4. Turquoise eye shadow between the yellow and the pink on the eyelid
Turquoise and yellow eye shadow from the outer lash line and outwards
  5. Black eyeliner with wing, Kryolan HD Cream Liner (Ebony)
  6. Black eye shadow at the end of the eyelid, Paese cashmere eyeshadow (602)
Black mascara on the upper lashes, Magnetic lash mascara

Clear!

Not having eye shadow or mascara on the underside of the eyes means that the eye shape becomes more "lifted" instead of enlarged / more open as it becomes if you put both up & down. In addition, you do not feel as much make-up - as soon as you get color under the eyes, the whole look feels more made-up, which is neither a bow nor a bee, but a good thing to think about if you want to use a lot of make-up but are not used to and have difficulty feeling feel comfortable in it :)

Hugs are!
